Sammy Miller - what an absolute legend. I started reading MCN and Motorcycle when I was an 11 year old Schoolboy back in '72. I remember your name was constantly in the bike papers even though you'd probably semi-retired. And here you are after all these years still as passionate about bikes! Absolutely amazing.

Wow, a slice of history all right!👍 in 1961 I had a 1959 Greeves 24TAS that had a Villiers 250cc engine, it gave me no end of trouble especially the HT pickup out of the electrics - it used to regularly fail. I fitted a full width hub front wheel but unfortunately my engineering maths wasn't up to it and I miscalculated the length of anchor plate, so one day I was haring home from work and had to quickly jam on all the brakes only for the anchor plate to get pulled over-centre resulting in the front brake locking solid and I went over the handlebars - right in the middle of the road among all the going home rush crowd. Picked myself up, unlocked the brake and went home to put the original wheel back in! 🤣Can laugh about it now but at the time I was more embarrassed than hurt.

That 64 Greeves reminds me of the 61 250 Hawkstone I used to own. Brings back memories.

I used to work with Mary's husband Dennis, such an amazing couple. There was a lovely big photo of Mary on the wall inside the entrance of the National motorcycle near the NEC. Lovely lady but fiercely competitive on the bikes.

I seem to remember Greeves offered high tensile rims & handlebars in silver as an option

In the States we called them "Spring Steel" rims, My early 250 Griffin came with a spring steel 21" on front.

Just found your channel and love it. Funny thing as I just picked up a barn find of a TL 125 that I am looking to restore and ride. Interested in knowing more about making the Honda handle better. Thanks for the video's for our education and entertainment.

It will be great to see the old machines restored and running again. It took me a few years to restore my 1972 DT3 250 Enduro, but it's really fun to ride and the smell of two stroke is the icing on the cake.

I was working at Greeves when that was built!

What were they thinking with the bright yellow muffler? Lol. The 125 is gutless. Really gutless.

You can protect degrading decals if not flaking with brush on latex to get it covered without a block of tape covering original paint and decal.

Sammy, did Aeriel ever try to make any competition bikes out of the Leader or Arrows. I know O'Rouke got a 7th place in the I.O.M TT. But was there ant development on the aforementioned bikes.

I just picked up my first trials bike and it happens to be the Honda TL125 Im really excited to see what Sammy and the team comes up with on this one as Im currently trying to build mine back up. Having a hard time finding a top end for it, If anyone has any suggestions on where I can get a cylinder/ piston I would appreciate any help....
@ed.barker70693 жыл бұрын
I doubt he'll have a Cylinder or Piston but David Silver Spares stock parts for the TL125.
