I'm amazed at how few other people I ever see in the background, fishing the waters you fish. As good as you do in a typical video, I cant imagine someone else local hasn't caught on. I have an average fishery locally, and it is just inundated with kayak, as well as traditional fisherman. Your fortunate to have such an awesome river to fish in your backyard. Awesome videos, keep them coming!

@NDYakAngler I tried out the googly eye head jig with a twister tail on 8 pound trilene sensation. I ended up catching a tank of a largemouth. He measured at 23”. I love watching your videos! Lots of tips that I see in them. I’m thinking about buying a kayak sometime here in the future. Possibly before spring

Watching you handle that kayak is art. The ease that you move in and around the river and control your position without relying on an Ultrex is not wasted on me. I know what that takes.

The water temp ended up being right around 50. I’m still surprised the fish were up on that shallow stretch of river with mid 20’s for overnight temps and 40’s for daytime highs the last several days.

Thanks Trey! I use a 3/16oz jig with a 3/0 hook, sometimes a 1/4oz if I’m fishing deeper water. I had better results with the Bass Assassin swimbaits as far as durability, “ripper” was my favorite color of those.

Another week or two and those spots on the lake should start holding schools of fish. They’re doing the fall transition right now so they were pretty scattered. Now that the water has cooled off though a calm sunny day or two could make for an awesome bite! They’re saying snow on Wednesday out there and not much above freezing on Thurs so I’m hoping to get a few on topwater still with snow on the ground Friday on the heated stretch of river!

I always look forward to the fall bite here on our rivers in northeast Tennessee. We're still locked in to a summer like weather pattern with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s most days. Very unusual. While I love the topwater bite I also love it when the water temperatures drop and our fish transition to a major crawfish feed. I'll then primarily fish my jigs and the Keitechs. It can truly be some of the best fishing of the year.

I never have. They have a catch and release only regulation on this river so they all go back in the water. I have gill or gut hooked a few over the years that probably didn’t make it so if it wasn’t for the regulation I would have given them a try.

@@ndyakangler Wow. The abundance, and 17-20" average size of smallies in the river is certainly due to that 100% catch and release practice there.

52 degree water temp seems to be the cutoff where they lose interest in topwater. Right around this time of year in MN. While the water was 50 degrees at this spot on Thursday I hit a stretch yesterday that’s heated by a warm water discharge and hammered a few giants on the spook!
