Tracking Francine: North Carolina Impact Timeline

Francine is expected to strengthen to a Category 2 hurricane when it makes landfall on Wednesday night along the Louisiana coast. As of 5 p.m. Monday, Francine is a tropical storm. It is expected to strengthen into a hurricane on Monday night.
The National Weather Service has also issued hurricane warnings and storm surge warnings for parts of the Louisiana coast. Francine formed Monday morning in the Gulf of Mexico as the sixth named storm of the Atlantic Hurricane season. On average, that happens on Aug. 29.
