Trackmaster light-up Thomas *all new* 2013 Unboxing review and first run

Hi Guys and Gals, here we have the all new 2013 Trackmaster Light up Thomas, this line ties in nicely to the Sodor blackout theme that they are currently going with at Trackmaster.
I and I'm sure many of you were surprised when Etenks1 first posted that video with pics of these new engines with lights, I was pleased to find one on ebay with a "buy it now" and it finally arrived today. The cost was $61 including delivery so hopefully that's just because its so new and we are not seeing a price increase with these relatively simple engines. I am happy to shoulder the $61 so you can get a good early look at this :D
The engine runs on a flat type drive unit which was a bit clicky and grindy and I thought that we had left all that racket behind since the BMM engines were so silky smooth. on top of the drive unit we find a 2xAAA battery holder which sits nicely inside Thomas' oversized bodyshell. The switch activates the forward motion and the lights at the same time, it would be nice if the lights had a separate switch or button so it could run with or without lights or lights on when not moving. This engine cannot free roll when switched off, i've always wondered why they do this on rc, talking and now these engines but it perhaps points to a deal with battery companies so you cannot play with it when the batteries go flat.
I like to feel that I suggested this to them but I suspect they had this in the works ever since the Sodor blackout line first appeared. I am happy they have made this but am also worried the price will not drop to a reasonable amount. The recent exploitation of new release engines by seemingly greedy ebay sellers is a surprise and I watched prices of auctions skyrocket. I am happy for the winners but wow they went for allot of money.
When running in the dark this engine looks really good and it was a very pleasant surprise as to how good the cab light looks when this Thomas is on night time duty. Why did they wait so long? this will surely be a hit with kids and kidult collectors alike! The speed is quite slow for 3 volts but perhaps this hints to a line of new locomotives that are fast!
Anyway I am quite happy with this locomotive and am sure it looks just as good in person on your railway as it looks in the video on mine. Hopefully if you like this loco you can find one and it will provide great service to you.

Yes it is I have something special planned for it, have the eco light up rear car to go with it as well as a sound passenger car and I am going to add lights and 3v to the power car. Hopefully will be the ultimate N700!

Hi double his voltage :D this henry runs on 2xAAA batteries in the tender. I did a video about how to do it with Edward, Henry is the same.

I got light-up Percy too from eBay but really the batteries were still not good so always change the battery even if it is less then a month or a week old. The batteries are not good. I used fresh energizer lithium AAA batteries and they was much faster and brighter. Did you use a dremel to cut a hole in your Thomas. I personally modded my Plarail Thomas' headlamp by using a small drill and a single hole in the center and a sharp scalpel was used to cut by the holes.

3 volt conversion in the tender and grain of rice bulb fitted, i did a 3 volt edward tutorial and a toby with light tutorial its just a matter of adding the 2 mods together

It would have been nice to include sounds with this but I think it would require a permanently attached truck. I think Fisher-Price wants to try and put all the features into the one engine but by doing so, it makes a not nice looking Thomas. The lights do make him look better though, and they did a pretty good job with them. I love your Diesel 10, very well done!

Wow, I'm so used to seeing you open boxes with a blade to preserve them but that certainly was a forced opening you did during your rage. :P I'm surprised how quickly it took for this to come for you. I don't believe it will be available in Australia since we don't get anything besides the Greatest Moments packs.

I think the light is yellow on front and there isn't one in the back and they both aren't very bright because fisher price is too cheap to do something in that much detail so they just used the same light as in the cab

No the seller didn't mention it in the listing it was new in box, it arrived in ferdinands box and when i questioned the seller he claims he opened it to test it, i'll be able to tell if its new or not when I open it, the wheels don't lie :p Light up thomas was $61 delivered

I have an idea for your next video have some track placed over water ever so slightly so that when an engine runs over the pieces of track the wheels are in the water but they don't need to be all the way under water then have an engine pull cars with water and baby powder and anything else you can find outside it would be a great video also give me a shout out in the video for giving you the idea thanks
