Next time you struggle to hook up hydraulic hose like you did there, if you crack the threads between the coupler and the hose ( let off pressure on the implement) it will connect easier for you. And as nji345 said hooking lines together will help keep pressure balanced in both hoses

Man, on that video I posted with the new grapple...I was embarrassed how hard I had to work to get those fittings off! I usually keep a small hammer and tap those rings if they are being feisty. Not enough to dent or ding; just enough to break that seal. Love seeing Skiddy bop out there in the dirt!!! That thing is so cool!

Josh when hooking up your hydraulic lines first turn off the machine. Then turn thw key on the machine but don't start. Engage any safety devices and then move the hydraulic lever for the implement around in circles to relieve the pressure 👍👍

Josh, I just watched this video and at the end you were struggling with the hydraulic connections. Try this - sit in the seat, turn on the key but don't start the skid steer. Click the hydraulic release switch to release. On your right side joy stick switch it so you can move the hand control side to side and move it several times. This will release the hydraulic pressure. You should then be able to hook up your hydraulic lines with no problem. I have the same vintage JD skid steer (mine is a 260) and had the same problem until someone told me about doing this. It works great. Also, do this BEFORE you unhook any attachment that has hydraulics. It will amaze you how easy it is once you do it. You may struggle with your attachments until you unhook all of them this way and then you should be golden!!

Josh, you can let the pressure off the tractor/skid steer by moving the controls, but you can still have pressure on the line(s). Depress the check valve on the end of the line by pressing on it with a screw driver or pushing it against a flat surface.. I suggest putting a rag over it first.

Get a piece of schoolyard fence 4 or 6ft wide and about 6ft ot 8ft long and put a piece of rebar through the end of it with a rope tied on each side for pulling it and set 4 or 6 car tires and wheels on top of it for weight. Use a lawn tractor or atv. It will smooth out your dirt better than any box spring and it pulls the grass and rocks out and rolls/drops them in piles for you to pickup. I pick them up with a flat shovel and a 5 gallon bucket or wheelbarrow. It works like a cheese grater because of all the little sharp points.

I have the same skid steer with the same problem connecting hydraulic lines. I found if you keep the handle in the flow position (with the machine off) the lines connect right on. It needs to go to the left for the top line and to the right for the bottom connection. Also it needs to stay in the position when connecting not just back and forth. I watched you suffer connecting the lines and that was exactly what I was doing. Hope it works for you!

The tracks are also good because you want that area nice. When you drive a skid steer with wheels over the yard it really packs the dirt down tight and things don’t grow well, it will destroy a septic system if you drive over it without tracks. We had in addition built on and they kept driving them back-and-forth over the yard and the guy you put the septic tank and had to basically re-dig everything up just to break it up, But other areas they drove it over or messed up still, the grass always grew really thin there no matter how much I fertilize it and we finally killed a big area of that to put a garden in and the grass started growing great there after the garden was gone and anywhere I dug up to plant a tree or something the grass grew fine in that area it was just too compacted. An ATV is fine or a side-by-side come up with a skid loader is just way too heavy without the tracks.

If you take a hydraulic attachment off in the morning and try to hook it up in the afternoon you won't be able to because it has built pressure in the attachment with the warmer temp. Very frustrating... only way to fix this is to break the fitting apart to relieve pressure of switch to a threaded connect under pressure fitting witch are very expensive but worth in Imo. Good luck

What are you going to heat it with? I always wanted to get a waste oil furnace in my shop. I don't know if this will work on a flat face coupler, but on the other type with a ball sticking out, you can tap them with a hammer or mallet and that will help relieve pressure. Glad to see you're doing well and keep the excellent videos coming.

Drone footage seemed a little fuzzy today..... I believe what your fittings are doing is called hydro-locked (don't quote me on that terminology). There is to much pressure behind the plate when your trying to compress it. Gotta find a sweet spot when your changing out your implements. And try to find that spot everytime. Your fittings don't look dirty to me.

Your chiropractor loves those hydraulic connectors. Ugh. That looks like a pain :/ They really need to put some kind of pressure release valve or something on there, just something like an in-line reservoir where you can hit a button or valve that relieves the pressure in the line just a little to make that easy to push in.

I can’t for the life of me remember what the kind of fitting are on the skid steer that I use at work are but they screw on. It is a high flow machine and there just on the high flow lines but you can connect them in a matter of seconds. If I’m not mistaken you can get them for standard flow machines also. They are pretty price if I remember correctly though. I’ll work on getting the name of them and let you know so you can check them out. They may be something might be interested in. God bless! Ps. Found the link for them! www.stucchiusa.com/threaded-flat-face-couplers/

Looks great! Why don’t you cover it with hay so it can get nutrients. Are you afraid the cows will mess it up? Just asking ,know very little.
