Local village has live cam of RR crossing on their main street. Secondary line hitting all the small towns. I see alot of GP-38's and GP-40's. Those old workhorses still have alot of life in them. I also see alot of CSX and BNSF engines hauling these small trains. Thanks for sharing this video.

I used to catch those SSW GP60s a lot. Great runners. They wanted to run, and on a stack train you could let them go. One night I had 2 GP60s and two loaded auto boxes. A trainmaster chased us for miles trying to stop us for speeding. What a great run that was. Chief dispatcher finally! Told him he was wrong. Another official bit the dust that night.

Was Newman driving the train?

UP should consider painting a couple of heritage units in Western Pacific colors. WP was bought out in 1983 by Southern Pacific, which was itself bought out by UP in 1996. UP runs up the old WP route from Oakland through Sacramento, then up the Feather River canyon all the way to Winnemucca NV.

Doesn't the motor lock up after that? Would be bad to keep it rolling like that.

Looks like image stabilization on the camera interacting badly with a tripod, which happens with some systems. (Basically, the tripod means that the only vibration is the vibration caused by the image stabilization itself, so it can get into a feedback loop.)

Tell me the Crew Can’t See the Traction Motor Burning 🔥 Up ? 🤪👎
@pauljensen5699Ай бұрын
@@kens.3729 At that point, the crew is searching for potential obstacles in their path because they are probably at restricted speed about to go into the Blue Island yard. However, the controlling unit is probably getting alarms from the unit with the overheating traction motor. Does this answer your statement?
@williamsquires3070Ай бұрын
If they saw it, they probably thought it was diesel exhaust, or a sticking brake shoe.
