Tractor Legends: Doppstadt (LTS) Trac 160 | The final MB-Trac!

This LTS Doppstadt Trac 160 is the latest reincarnation from a long line of MB Trac tractors. When Mercedes-Benz quit production in 1991 the Eastern German manufacturer Landtechnik Schönebeck (LTS) took on production. It wasn't long before LTS went on the look-out for an investor and found Doppstadt. The line-up of 80 to 205 HP tractors was continued until 2006 and then stopped for ever.
This early LTS build Trac 160 was sold new in France and imported second hand into the Netherlands by its current owner. The engine is a 160 HP Mercedes-Benz OM 366 A example. In total less than 500 LTS and Doppstadt Trac's were build.
We find this 'tractor legend' hard at work powering a Claas Quadrant 2200 big baler baling haylage for a dairy farm. The location is a somewhat special field as it is actually a dyke which is cut for silage. Decades ago this 'Knardijk' in Zeewolde had to keep the washing sea water out of the freshly reclaimed polder.

We do mostly hay work and contract potato harvesting. We only recently upgraded to JCB. We though about keeping our 2x MB Trac for sentimental reasons, but they’ll just go to ruin sitting in the shed. We’ve decided we want them to go to someone who appreciates the MB. So good for so long. We’re in South Australia (Mount Gambier). 1500 & 1800 for sale. Our business is cutting, raking, baling. Last few years we’ve picked up work as a potato harvesting contractor (why we upgraded to JCB). Both have been well maintained tractors. For sale.

@@SchizoSystems You’re right. All sorts of drama with the JCB hydraulics & transmission since writing that post. Ended up being a right-off. What a waste of money. No dealership support or manufacturers acceptance of responsibility for quality. Will never buy another JCB.

@@eatingamandarin and more expensive than a Fendt.. We tried a lot of different brands over the years and we came to the conclusion.. we mostly stick to german brands nowadays 😂

@@SchizoSystems Never tried German. Are there others to Fendt? The JCB was attractive because of it’s promoted on-road capacity. Pfft

@@eatingamandarin sadly there aren’t many german brands left.. Claas is german but they built their tractors in france.. only the xerion is truly german built. The larger Deutz Fahr models are German as are the 6 series of John Deere.. but they all come a bit behind Fendt imo.. A saw a test 10 years ago where the Fendt 900 series matched the road comfort to a JCB.. 38% of german contractors drive fendt says a lot I think

Guten Abend, ich hätte mal eine wichtige frage auf bezug der Räder, wurden diese von link nach rechts getauscht und damit die Spurverbreitert? Kennst dich ggf. jemand damit aus ob damit anschließend ein höhrere lenkeinschlag möglich ist

Nice brides of a nice machine,.. but possibly a little over loaded on that big quadrant? Very slow pace if she's 'happy' on it. Perhaps a round baler might work a bit more fluently?

It was mainly travelling slowly because the baler isn't up to a very high capacity and the grass was a bit wet still with lumps in it.

Mb trac ist der einzig wahre trac und wird es auch immer bleiben. So ein gammelding kann da nicht mithalten

dann hast du überhaupt keine Ahnung. Das Einzige was gleich ist ist der Motor und der Rahmen vielleicht noch. Getriebe, Achsen Kabine, Hydraulik, Bedienung sind komplett anders. Ergo ist nur der Motor gleich und die Optik nachgeahmt. Und du willst bei Doppstadt sein, Spinner!

Soviel ich weiß ist der MB trac in Schönbeck konstruiert worden . Es gab sogar einen Werbefilm . In der DDR dürfte er aber dann nicht gebaut werden . Warum auch immer . Weil er ja mit dem Benzmotor gebaut werden sollte hat ihn dann Benz selbst gebaut und vermarktet . So kam es eigentlich dazu das Benz einen Trac produziert hat . Aber das kann man ja auch selbst im Internet erfragen.
