For all the people comparing this with the Krone big M: That is a mower! This machine is designed in such as way that the action all happens in front of the vehicle, offering a lot more control and precision as compared to a pulled rake. Furthermore it is very flexible as it can put the swath down in different positions. On top of that it can make very clean swaths, because the crop is not dragged across the field, but lifted up and moved on a belt.

If you're big enough, this is a bit more nimble than a tractor mounted or more typically towed merger. Last 5 years there has been a big shift locally to these merger machines for making alfalfa/haylage. Much less crop damage than a rake.

tnywragge to me the output seems to be huge! Not comparable to tractor pulled mergers or rakes. Only to that Krone six rotor rake maybe, but thats no good in small scale areas. With this one the visibility and manouverability is exceptional plus the ability to shut down the belts in corners while still picking up grass with the pickup is a pretty handy feature.

It’s a great video, but I’m struggling to see how anyone could justify the cost. It’s 280 hp. I’m guessing that it’s no cheaper than buying a 280 hp tractor and a large conventional rake and you could use the tractor 365 days a year for whatever else you needed. This has a, maybe, 4 month use window doing solely one job. And I’d hate to imagine the resale value given there would be so few users for a machine this size. Love to drive one though!

The concept is there but why bother making a whole self propelled unit when it could easily be redisigned as a header to be installed on a self propelled swather. That way it would be way more cost effective and most large farms already have swather. It's pretty much a draper header with the real and knife removed and a baler style pickup installed.

I’m sorry to say but a tractor and a windrower in the same size is a lot cheaper then this set-up so I don’t think so
@patrickverkley3235 жыл бұрын
These mergers are becoming very popular here in Ontario Canada. With all the alfalfa that is grown for dairy, these mergers are much more gentle on the crop than a rake is. This also kicks up less stones which saves on harvester repairs. However most of the mergers locally are all trailed units, being pulled by tractors.
@gkloepper5 жыл бұрын
Danish Timelapse i don‘t think so! From what this looks like you would need two big windrowers to be as productive as one of these because it can go much quicker and is easier to handle because of the Pickup being in frint of the vehicle and the rear steering axle. Plus it is better for forage quality
@danishtimelapse625 жыл бұрын
@@gkloepper A windrower is much cheaper, can't be discussed. Yes the belts are more handy but if you buy one of these you have a belt standing on a what looks like a pretty pricey machine in the winter there just is in the shead. A tractor can you use to diffrent things and make you the moneys during the winter. Let's make perspektive: You got a machine to 200.000€ like this belt windrower there's doing nothing in the winter. Another farmer got a new tractor to 150.000€ a plow and a windrower to all in all 200.000 that means this farmer now can plow for people but you only have the windrower to 200.000€ so you have to raise the price to keep your moneys save. Then people start to leave you cause your to pricey and go to the farmer because he earned a lot of moneys from the plowing and now got the moneys to lower the windrower prices so he get more klients Hope you understand or i'll see if i can simplify it lol
@TYSuggested5 жыл бұрын
Nice video. I imagine you need to do a lot of forage work to justify buying/leasing one of these though! Can't be cheap and probably not that much more efficient than a tractor with a widrower.

It's not all just about plant height either. Sometimes when the weather hasn't been favorable there won't be as much biomass but the point in the growth cycle of the harvested crop necessitates cutting in order to ensure the plant cycles again for another cut. Also, while maybe not in the Netherlands, here in Ontario Canada we grow a lot of alfalfa which is high in nutrients for the dairy cow but isn't a super big biomass crop.
