Not enough music industry accolades & lifetime acheivement awards have been given to this genuine humble singer songwriter. Her instruments being her voice & guitar so simplistic yet phenomenal in its simplicity & purity. Musicians need to take a leaf out of Tracey Chapman's book - a master of incredibly rare unique storytelling ability with a gifted voice.

@Chopper well, not to be the cynic but - hearts and minds don't change so quickly. If these people really cared about what's right and fair we wouldn't be in this mess. Time will tell where we end up in all this. One thing is for sure though, there are powerful people with a vested interest in keeping us all divided and at each other's throats. The only question is, will enough people realize it before it's too late.
@tatakainokaizen71404 жыл бұрын
@Chopper i've heard that example b4, and i've taken a good look at the privilege argument. I agree in so far as it's important to be thoughtful and consider the position of others. But there is a flaw with the privilege argument. All attributes (height, weight, income level, skin color, etc) come with Both upsides and downsides. The problem comes when one person presumes that people in the 'better off' category must have all upside. And the latter side in the 'worse off' category must have all downside. I feel this is a mistake, and oversimplification of our troubles. I want to play this song for both sides. I don't want just white people to think about how they could do things differently. In the black community we must learn to counteract the self-hate in our hearts. Learn to Love ourselves enough to research what's destroying our minds and bodies - to eat better, live better, and be better as a people. We got into this mess together. The only way out is for each side to really embrace and understand ourselves and our role in these issues. Really learn what each side has to offer, and cultivate those good things, minimize the downsides and forge a stronger unified country. That's my dream anyway.

If you knew that you would die today Saw the face of God and love Would you change? Would you change? If you knew that love can break your heart When you're down so low you cannot fall Would you change? Would you change? How bad, how good does it need to get? How many losses? How much regret? What chain reaction would cause an effect? Makes you turn around Makes you try to explain Makes you forgive and forget Makes you change? Makes you change? If you knew that you would be alone Knowing right, being wrong Would you change? Would you change? If you knew that you would find a truth That brings up pain that can't be soothed Would you change? Would you change? How bad, how good does it need to get? How many losses? How much regret? What chain reaction would cause an effect? Makes you turn around Makes you try to explain Makes you forgive and forget Makes you change? Makes you change? Are you so upright you can't be bent? If it comes to blows Are you so sure you won't be crawling? If not for the good, why risk falling? Why risk falling? If everything you think you know Makes your life unbearable Would you change? Would you change? If you'd broken every rule and vow And hard times come to bring you down Would you change? Would you change? If you knew that you would die today If you saw the face of God and love Would you change? Would you change? Would you change? Would you change? Some of her songs should be anthems, some of them traditional songs... This woman was one of the first singers who made me think, her notes had a frequency so hard to ignore... I saw them film this music video. I actually sat down and talked with Tracy. She actually is quite beautiful and I just melted into the chair every time she smiled as she spoke. She is a lovely person.

I don't want to start an argument, but this is, like, "Bob Dylan, hold my beer", really. To me, she is the greatest American folk singer songwriter ever. I was never moved by Dylan's songs the way I'm moved by her songs.
