Awesome! I had this series and loaned it and never got it back. I trained at the Seattle area school in the 90's . And for those wondering, Mr. Tracy could move with PLENTY of speed and power when he wanted to. It;s a very intriguing system to study. The techniques are meant as standardized reference points for the student and instructors to use as they see fit in their own study later. I went a different way after 5 or 6 years but Kenpo is always part of what I do.

Nice to meet you and glad you enjoyed the video. Mr. Tracy was my Husbands first instructor in the 70's and got his 2nd black under him. I was also able to get a black belt in Tracy Kenpo From Al.

Thank you for posting, I’m an EP kempoist and can see pretty much the same basic movements. Many of the techniques are same just different names and minor differences.

There are basically 3 main differences between the two Kenpo systems, the way the technique is done linear vs circular, the names of the techniques, and the terminology. Glad you are enjoying the videos

This is the Al Tracy? The guy is off balance the entire time. SMH…I loved taking Kenpo as a kid (Tracy style) but this is ridiculous.

These were designed in the 80's to assist students in learning the technique and how it looks, these videos are not about showing off how well you can do a technique but how to do the technique so a student can learn.

I studied in the early 90’s as a pre-teen. It was fun for discipline, etc. We did learn how to strike and did spare (although sparing was more kickboxing). And katas were fun to learn. Kenpo can teach some techniques that can be used. Besides striking you do learn about leverage. But mostly this martial art, like many, is just masculine ballet.

I had heard of this guy for years and this is my first time seeing him move. Very unimpressive. He lacks the skill of a true master.

@ParkerPPipe Жыл бұрын
@@pausetape8824 it sucks. Do you have full contact sparring at your school? Probably not. The argument that bjj is useless against multiple attackers is just what snake oil salesman say to stay in business. Traditional martial arts for the most part are being phased out because most of them, not all of them, but most are complete useless bullshit. If you’re in a fight with multiple attackers you’re gonna lose without a gun no matter what. It’s a moot point. 6 months of bjj and you could beat anyone in your dojo in a fight. Try it. I shouldn’t have waited so long I had a similar mind set. Jujitsu changed my life

@LeAnnRathbone3 жыл бұрын
You are confusing a demonstration with a learning video. These videos are not about showing how fast are good Al Tracy was at him performing the technique but about how to do the technique. So a student could learn. I am not putting these videos up to make fun of someone but to show the progression of the techniques as well as how the techniques are done so other Kenpo students can learn. Respect for other instructors and systems seems to be a loss art now a days it is all about how negative you can be to make yourself feel better.

Well David ,nothing brings out the know it all , keyboard commando , armchair critic, hate sniper douchebags more than the Martial Arts. The reason for that is psychologically insecure men equate being able to fight to alpha male masculinity. The thing is how Kenpo is presented by almost every single instructor out there all the way from Ed Parker down is ridiculous. The art of beating up human mannequins and making the scenario fit the technique instead of the other way around, a this is written in stone approach even though other responses directly contradict that approach , the fact that retrospective application in practically non existent, I could go on and on about what an amazing system it is if only the teachers of it didn’t fuck it in the ass with their own lack of understanding it’s potential. Then there’s people too intellectually void to know the difference between a video designed for a practitioner to learn or review a technique step by step and a video designed to demonstrate it in action…that would be you I’m talking about. So do everyone a favor and stfu until you actually have something even remotely intelligent to write.
