But in all fairness to Tracy Morgan(and to a lot of people in the general public who don't read comic books and who just like watching Super Hero movies and television shows),I doubt that he even knows that there actually already are black versions,equivalents and stand-ins for Superman from DC Comics. There's Val-Zod(who Grant Morrison created and Morrison has openly stated that he based Val-Zod on former U.S. President Barack Obama),there's Calvin Ellis,there's Steel and there's Icon. And even Marvel has basically got their own black equivalent of Superman,a character named Blue Marvel(who they should absolutely make a movie for). If people want a black Superman,then just make movies for all of those aforementioned characters(Steel had a movie in 1997 starring Shaquille O' Neal but as someone who grew up reading Steel comics,I always felt like they got the character wrong and that Shaq was miscast in the role).I'm an aspiring comic book writer and artist and I even have my own original character,who is a black Super Hero who is a Superman-like character(I'm basing his appearance on Denzel Washington when he was younger). When people talk about wanting a black Superman in movies-even if they're joking,usually it's the people who don't read comics and who don't know that there already are characters like that in comics books that could be used as ample and apt material for movies.
