That was, hands down, one of the most interesting, insightful interviews I've seen in years. I am a Dave Chappelle fan but some of you claim that he is the best to ever do it. No he is not and even Dave will tell you that Eddie is the best to ever do it. Legends like Richard Pryor and Redd Foxx paved the way for Eddie but there is no one else quite like him. Eddie paid for Chris Rock to fly first class to go perform on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Eddie put Chris and Dave in his movies (Boomerang and Nutty Professor). Eddie was a legendary cast member on Saturday Night Live, was a legendary standup comedian, starred in iconic comedies (too many to name), was the voice of Donkey in Shrek, sang and danced in Dreamgirls and put out hit songs like "Party All The Time" in the 80's. Eddie is the GOAT and it's not even close. I could listen to him tell stories all day.

Comparing comedians is like comparing apples & oranges. Yes,apples and oranges. Different types of comics & comedy is so subjective. imo in terms of the art-form of Standup comedy, Dave is hands down the 🐐 but one would argue he specialized in it. Eddie quickly transitioned to the big screen and stole our hearts with a lot of classics. I would argue he is the 🐐 in that aspect.

Eddie is just the best! Love this man. Great stories, even though you can tell he doesn’t enjoy talking about himself too much. He’s a national treasure, that’s still going strong!

Eddie Murphy seems like the grandfather I’ve never had! I love hearing him talk about his life❤ my mom and I used to watch all his old videos from the 80’s growing up and it was one of my favorite memories with her

Eddie answered the Michael Jackson question very well. You could tell Jimmy was setting him up for another pathetic Michael Jackson joke but Eddie shut that sh*t down with a great answer before it even got started.

Okay, I just finished watching this and I now know what Eddie Murphy's return to standup comedy should be! No trying to write material for a special, no testing out new jokes at comedy clubs, no preparation at all...he just needs to tell stories from his life just like he's doing on this interview and call it SURREAL LIFE. That's it! "EDDIE MURPHY - A SURREAL LIFE". His natural humor will come out when he tells the story, so it's gonna be funny, regardless, and if he does a tour, he can just tell a different set of stories and no one will know what his set is gonna be, even if they tried to film it, so it would never get a spoiler! So @JimmyKimmelLive people, get this idea over to Eddie and if he does it, don't forget to credit me for this 😁and if they rest of you dig this idea, like this comment! 👍🏾😉

I don’t think Eddie has to do a hour worth of stand up to be interesting, all he really has to do is 45 minutes of his life stories in Hollywood, I would pay 30 bucks for that..
