TRADE IN TIME! Our Review On The Exmark Lazer Z X-Series Zero Turn Lawn Mower

I asked a bunch of you guys on our recent mowing vlog if you wanted to see a review of our Exmark Lazer Z X Series before we traded her in, overwhelmingly you guys said yes!
I love doing review videos and letting you guys know our experiences with the equipment we use, so today we're talking about our experience over the last 3 years with the Exmark Lazer Z!
This unit has about 1,500 hours in total on it over the last 3 seasons. We've done a gob of business with it, and it's definitely made us a lot of money. We've done spring clean ups, fall clean ups, mowing, we've done it all, and it's been an a tank for us.
Although she's been a solid machine for us, it doesn't mean we didn't have a few hiccups along the way. Early on we had a lot of issues with the seat switch sensor, which was acting up, so that was a black eye early on. Thank God for great customer service with Exmark and my local dealer Weingartz, we were able to get it warrantied out and move forward with that issue.

I just picked up my Lazer z X 52 . I got five hours on it so far. I absolutely love this thing. I’ve been through 5 exmark zero turns over the years. This one is by far the best. I’ve had the HP’s, S Series. We have been having the same amount of rain as you guys this spring in Ohio. Had more rain today and I was still smiling ear to ear how nice it is. Great video! I run 2 Lazer Z S Series w/ 52 inch decks and a vantage w/ a 36 inch deck but I love those Lazer Z's bother man, they have been damn good mowers in my opinion. Im glad I obtained those 3 Exmarks when i did n went that route 👍....

Sorry, I just caught this video; I like your opinion! I love my Exmark mowers. I bought two Lazer Z Mowers. Both are 52” decks. Ultra decks, S-Series, Kawasaki engines. These was the best models they had four years ago. One had a safety switch problem in the seat. I replaced the switch under the seat. These machines are fantastic! Nothing is more reliable than Xmark

I’ve used the x-one before and was not impressed by the cut quality, the ride is amazing probably the best riding lawnmower I’ve ridin, maybe the blades were bad on it or something

I just bought the Turf Tiger 2 and love it. I guess it's a matter of preference. I didn't have any problems going through Highway crash with the shaft driven deck. Good luck with it Brian

I’m on my second season with a Hustler Super Z (Kohler) I’ve got 120 hours on my new one and the clutch fried. They said it was just a defective part and they’ve never seen a clutch go out at such low hours. Down for two weeks. I may add an Exmark in the rotation next.

Scag FTW!! Although I do love exmark. I use a 52” Scag Pro V with the Scag Velki. The Velocity deck cuts like a dream! And it lays some stripes.

I have a normal 9-5 and mow and do landscaping on the side. I have 17 yards I do and have a pretty good size contract with my hometown city for a few parks and ball fields. I recently picked up a used 2015 ExMark Lazer Z S series with 480hrs and man is that thing a beast. it’s everything I expected it to be plus more I’ve also used Scag and John Deere in the past but ExMark has to be my favorite

Hey Brian love the videos👍🏻I been watching each demo since I’m in the market for new ZTR,so many choices thou.,it’s been tough. X- Mark/Scag/Spartan/Cub Cadet never even thought to give Cub a look until your demo video,it’s nicer than would have thought. X-Mark looking at the Lazer E series(price)but engine choice’s slim 24.5hp don’t seem like enough for 60”/72”. Brings me to Scag I like the Tiger Catll with Kohler 29hp EFI with 61”deck I like.Last is the Spartan SRT-XD 72” with 37hp vanguard around same $,leaves me thinking man that’s a lot of mower for the $. It’s for around my place only,say 5acres that I keep up,the rest I leave up to the cows(110total). Common bermuda/Bahia mainly.You have any suggestions?

I had the same exact mower. It sat in the shop more than in the field it's first year . We replaced every part on that thing : both wheel motors ,went through a half dozen idler pulleys, belts,hour meter, computer, wire harness,etc. The park brake is a joke. We sold it to my brother last year for a thousand bucks and one month later the motor failed. It was the worst experience with a mower. 14k thousand dollars for this headache of mower. That was my 5th ExMark we owned and my last. I now sport Ferris mowers. I've put 900hrs on my IS-3200Z in 2 years, still have original tires and belts. Zero problems . I'm not trying to hate on ExMark but, for their prices, they should have the least amount of problems compared to their competition.

I worked for two different companies in Kansas City Missouri, one that had x-mart walk behinds and another that had Gravely. The Gravely was a million times better. Personally I'm paralyzed now but I got a 42" Gravely Zero Turn Mower for I believe $5,000 about 8 years ago and it's still working like a brand new beast 💪🔥💪🔥💪🔥. Half acre yard done in like 12-15 minutes. Granted an hour of weed eating in a power wheelchair.

wow that is fast. One of my yards I do the owner estimated about 1 acre of grass and it takes roughly 3 hours with my 48in Scag.

JronmanBuilds zero turn or walk behind? You should be somewhere around 3.5 acres per hour at 80% cut volume on just about any commercial 48” zero turn.

@@jronmanbuilds sounds like a lot less than what is needed to do that job. Back in the day 23/24 years ago (both were walk behinds) a 52" Gravely and a 32" Gravely took down 1.5 acres in about 45 minutes. Almost all front yard and at least a 30° uphill slope / nightmare. Mine now runs like 7 or 8 MPH.

@@mikecooley3361 mines not even commercial but it's a damn speedy beast. Hell I paid $100 for an underneath attachment that made it 100% mulch. Only thing I don't like is that they don't make a Gator Blade for it but it's a Standard Mulch Blade.

I got a lazer z x series it's about 5 yrs old with the red tech gen 1. Had to put three engines on it. Lucky it was all under warranty. But good quality and cuts tall grass like butter.

I'm 100% team exmark and the 60' and 52' x series are by far the best mowers you can buy. I'm not a huge fan if the 72 just because I'm not that experienced with the size. But 52 and 60 are my go to mower decks. By far leave the best looking stripes from these sized decks compared to competitors.

I have three Exmark vantage mowers.. 1600 hrs, 1300 hrs, 800hrs, all regular maintenance.. only one big repair 1600hr mower needed head gasket at 1400 hrs.

@@amandadavis9726 I love the mower best investment we've made.. bagging system with is even better... I have yet to find a property with grass this machine cant handle.. it doesnt bog down in thick grass with a lil wider stance than our 2016 exmark radius its handle and maneuvers hills and burms very well.. that red tech is a great feature as well.. I enjoy the fuel saver its equipped with.. I use way less with fuel than my radius and I'm on my lazer z 90% of the time.. take one for a demo.. in my opinion you wont be disappointed

Dan witt I just demoed a Radius X with the 22, 23.5 HP Kawasaki with 60” deck. It cut pretty well. But I could tell that it needed the power to cut the thicker, heavier stuff. That’s what literally 99% of my jobs consists of. It’s because my customers are on monthly maintenance plans. So I need the higher powered engine. My local dealer doesn’t have a Lazer Z to demo,....which is what had me bummed a little bit. If I was monthly weekly or biweekly, then the big hp engine wouldn’t be an issue. The quality of the cut is great. So I know that with more power, it’ll cut the taller grass and weeds more efficiently.

I currently have a 61" SnapperPro S200, and am about to trade it in on a Ferris 3200 61" with 35HP Kawi. I have had really good luck so far with these mowers (Ferris makes SnapperPro) Like you said Brian, dealer makes, or breaks the value of whatever mower one chooses to buy. My dealer has been really great to work with. Not necessarily the cheapest......but very reliable and helpful to small owner/ operators, and large companies alike. The Ex-Mark Lazer Z X series is one heck of a unit. I would be looking at one if I had a dealer that sold them closer to me. What unit are you going to be picking up next?

I have two Toros, that are basically identical to this. I blew two seals on my big 34hp Kohler EFI. They since switched the recommended oil weight in this big boys. I talked to one of the mechanics and he said that he never had to replace Kawasaki seals. Kohler is known for that problem. Both my z’s have kohler and the big one blew twice and the smaller one blew the bottom seal.

52 wright stander for nasty lawns and 48 Walker for everything else 1800 hours still going strong butttt I only use the Walker on nice stuff the wright stander is my front line solider I send that in first crunch everything up find the rocks branches etc then use the Walker to vacuum it all up

I'm an Exmark guy too. Bought my current Lazer Z 48" in 2010, and it has 2400 hrs on it. But it is now breaking down, and I am getting a new Exmark this week. Really bad oil leak coming out the bottom of the Kohler 23hp engine. Shaft seal leak? Dunno. And it has the seat switch issue too, for the 2nd time, plus the tires are shot. Gas gauge stopped working long ago. So that is a whole lot to repair $$$$$, and it's over 8 years old. But that has me wondering why are you trading in your Exmark after so few hours and years? I use equipment till it can't go no mo.

I think you’ll end up liking the stand up mowers more for residential lawns because you don’t have to carry that much wait and you can go faster and not tare up the lawns as much

20-40 lawns a day? Thats nearly one lawn every 5 minutes. Seems like a lot in one day.

That’s not the math at all.. it still takes us 10-15minutes a lawn. But yes we do that many every day all the time.

@@BriansLawnMaintenance Thanks for pointing out my mistake. I figured out the 5 is actually yards per hours if we figure for an 8 hour day. It should really be 4 per hour if your doing one every 15 minutes. I'm still amazed you do 40 in one day. Seems like a lot but with another couple guys it wouldn't be too bad? Are the properties very big?

Josh Shaw Estoril and Exmark are the same company the only difference is is a Toros are really nice but I like the way the Exmark Cuts just a little bit better both good quality mowers for sure

All mowers cut grass, it all comes down to correct adjustments, good blades, and operator. After that paint and name mean nothing in reality.

Stick to washings cars.... deck suction, weight distribution, tire width, footprint is everything.... walker, exmark, scag are top 3 in cut qaulity and footprint....

Lawn Crafters wow since your name is about lawn mowing you know everything huh? Deck suction falls into the 3 categories I listed above, adjustment, blades, and operator. Footprint has nothing to do with cut quality, weight distribution doesn’t either, same for tire width, you sound like a teenager that just gets excited over a name of a mower and says oh oh oh that’s best. If you have watched this guys channel he has demo’d all the main commercial mowers and they ALL were good. It comes down to PREFERENCE. Saying one mower is better than another mower is what children do when fighting over toys. If all the other big commercial mowers weren’t cutting grass they wouldn’t be in business. And also, the quality of the cut relies on so many things that I listed above, deck adjustment, correct blades, and a good operator that doesn’t try to go full speed across a lawn and expects it to cut perfect. Now that I’ve explained it logically to you with common sense does it make any sense?
