TRADE RUMORS: Cleveland Browns considered a FINALIST for San Francisco 49ers star WR Brandon Aiyuk

Rumors are heating up again about the San Francisco 49ers potentially trading wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. The Cleveland Browns are one of the team's who seem to be in the mix for the All-Pro. Is giving up Amari Cooper something the Browns should consider or should they move another piece in order to acquire Aiyuk and make the wide receiver room even stronger?
Brandon Aiyuk reported to training camp with the rest of his teammates. However, the San Francisco 49ers wide receiver isn't participating in practices and is often seen observing from the sidelines during on-field sessions.
Ahead of training camp, Aiyuk requested a trade after growing frustrated with the lack of progress in his contract extension negotiations. The receiver is set to earn $14.124 million on a team-exercised fifth-year option, but he likely seeks something closer to the $30 million-per-year range.
Respected Cleveland.com insider Mary Kay Cabot believes the Cleveland Browns might be a perfect trade partner for Aiyuk. She noted that Cam Marino of NFLDraftBuzz.com recently named the Browns among a trio of teams that are frontrunners in the Aiyuk sweepstakes and are willing to meet the receiver's salary demands. The others are the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Cabot believes the Browns are in a unique position. While the others are likely willing to part with draft compensation, something that won't benefit the 49ers until next season, the Browns can offer a player who can make an immediate impact-30-year-old wide receiver Amari Cooper. That might be key for a team with Super Bowl aspirations this season.

I wouldnt be upset getting BA, I dont think it will cost as much as ppl think in terms of trade value. My thought is he's not really going to take this team over the top. He helps but its not like adding a premier edge or something of that nature. I think the wr room is pretty good as is. Its obviously better with BA. I'm sure the org likes what theyve seen with Tillman this off season, and Trash so far. I feel like adding another top wr gives the roster too many mouths to feed vibes. Also think his skillset is redundant to that of most of the wr room, so he's not bringing something new like a big play deep threat. We'll see if the trade for him. I give it a low percentage chance. Regardless if it happens or not, this roster will look different after 2024. So for them this could be an all in year with Chubb, Cooper, Conklin, Teller, Tomlinson, etc. Next year they will have some guys to consider for cap purposes. As far as a trade proposal, a 2 and 4 is where I'm at. If thats the cost of Brian Burns and premier edge in the NFL, you have to assume a wr is cheaper. Only reason the cost is the same is BA is coming off an all pro year. But players rarely ever get traded this close to the season. Its why I think nothing happens.

Is this as a part time job for you guys? I’m just asking because the takes in here just seem lazy and canned. The Watson narrative is really based on feedback loops and not empirical data. Jays says Watson has not really developed chemistry with anyone. He leans into the others to offer examples. G chimes in with something about Brady was one if the only ones who could just spread it around (even that is flawed as Brady always had a weapon of choice, it just varied every few years as that positioned changed while his did not. Gronk, Hernandez, Edelman, Moss, Welker were all reliable targets for Brady, so that is a fallacy..I digress) to support the narrative that Watson has no “go to” guy that he has developed chemistry with. Go back and look at the data. People basing opinions off what they “watched” is flawed because people forget the details of a game and only remember if Watson did not throw for 400 yards or threw a pass in the ground or an interception. In the 4 games Watson started (not counting the 1 series Colts game) Cooper was getting around 5-9 catches a game for almost 100 yards per. That is chemistry in the scheme Cleveland ran. Cooper was also the go to guy for PJ Walker, DTR and Flacco. To say Watson had no chemistry with anyone is a gross misconception and shows a lack of detail in the analysis of the gane to game stats. In regards to BA beibg brought in, IF, your analysis is Watson has no real chemistry with any one receiver on this team, (which the data shows he does) then why would it matter if you being in BA or not? If Watson lacks chemistry with our guys who have been here then bring a new guy with no chemistry is the same thing. Nothing changes. Except, of course Watson has chemistry. He is building it every practice with the young guys too. The difference is, BA is a playmaker. He had chemistry with a 7th round draft pick out the gate, you don’t think he can get on the same page with Watson? If not, then that is more a criticism of Stefanski’s offense vs Shanahans. Go back and look at the box scores and how the receptions were divided and you will come up with distinct patterns between Watson and his receivers. Comparing him to ThrowJoe is also foolhardy. Flacco has always been a gunslinger that takes way more risks due to overconfidence of his arm than most of theQBs in the league. He caught fire and gelled with Cooper and Njoku and Moore right away, but Stefanski called a different offense due to Flacco’s arm and gunslinger mentality. Watson was running a different offense based on his arm and legs, plus a more effective running game. But to say he had little to no chemistry is flat out inaccurate and lazy. A little research would have shown you that and spared us 3 minutes of garbage takes. Watson’s only bad game was the Steelers. He lost that game on that fumble. We were in it up to that score by Watt. Yes, Bryant’s tip was the other half of that defeat, but Watson sealed it. Outside of those 2 plays Watson played pretty good in all the other games he played a full game. Cincy, Tenn, Arizona and Ravens. He played really well in all those games. All were W’s too. So my take is this. You can argue Flacco put up better numbers, you can argue Watson played worse teams but you cannot argue he had no chemistry with his receivers and he was not winning games. 4-1. Just go look it up. Re-watch the games. It’s not that hard. I do it and I work 50 hrs a week running my own business. Btw, my trade package would be DTR and a 5th. DTR would be a great back up to Purdy (cheap too) and possibly a replacement if they can’t get a deal done.

watson last year ranked 29th in completion percentage and yards per game, He also ranked 25th in Passer rating and Qbr. his pff grade ranked him 27th among qualified passers. 4 of these 5 stats are efficiency stats, and watson ranks among the worst in the nfl in all of these stats.
