The Huberdeau contract is an anchor in more ways than one. Huberdeau doesn’t have the support to show what he’s capable of. Trading him if possible makes total sense. The Flames are going in a different direction.

Huberdeau isnt as bad as everyone makes him out to be. Yes his contract looks bad after the last 2 seasons but he is 100% capable of being a 100pt player again. Our systems have not suited his style of play and his linemates have been subpar. If you watch him play, he consitently makes amazing plays and passes but the plays either die on his linemates stick as they cant handle/arent expecting the pass. I truly believe he is one of the top passers in the league, he puts in effort shift after shift and actually cares on the ice. Unless we get an abolsolute haul for him in a trade, were better off keeping him and building a line/system around him. I believe Huska is capable of that. Huberdeau was looking amazing in the second half of the season and im excited to see what he brings next season.

That’s a much better conversation. It’s irritating how people think real life is a video game. When a team signs an 8 year contract that doesn’t mean trade the player in a year if it “doesn’t work out”

You're right, they're fun to talk about, but these trades aren't going to happen. Huberdeau is unmovable at this point. There is not a single team that would take that contract. A team like Chicago will have huge contracts to pay out in a few years for their stars and no way they'd risk getting into a cap crunch for Huberdeau. The length and amount of that contract make it a perfect storm. Plus the fact that most players, Canadian and otherwise, would prefer not playing in Canada makes it that much harder.

I think the Flames are stuck with that Huberdeau contract. He ain't go anywhere. Chicago is going to need a lot of cap space to sign all of the high draft picks that they're getting and paying an extra 16 million plus over the life of Huberdaus contract I doubt would work for Chicago. Get him going, points wise and then look at the options. I think he'll have a better year

Huberdeau ain’t going anywhere he’s in the plans for the retooling he’s a great player give him time to get settled. Flames need scoring forwards we got enough defenders need those goals. This league is about scoring now score 4-5 goals and the wins will follow.

I've always considered Jones overrated. Maybe just a perspective thing, or that he was over-hyped. But Jones is what he is as a player and he's overpaid. Huberdeau at the very least still has a chance (getting slimmer) of rebounding. I'd rather keep him and try him out with some of the younger guys than to trade him for another teams problem. And F*** No to getting Edmonton out of the Nurse contract.

Problem with Jonathan is he is not ageing well, he will retire from hockey soon. I am all for trading him but for the right fit- not someone like PLD...

I'd rather stick with Huberdeau than getting Gaudreau back at this point. The flames are already rebuilding, no point in giving away any assets just to get back someone who doesn't want to be here
