that first junk yard made me anxious ..... Bob and his place are the BEST!!

The hoarder's mind is always fascinating to me. "I'll be buried with that." Right. More than likely, you'll age, become unable to stay on the hoard, be assigned to assisted living or a safe place, or the ultimate wish he has - die working. Then where does the hoard go? Who will empty the boatyard and sell/dump all the accumulated bits and bobs slowly crumbling into trash he deems valuable? A toy bus and vehicles consigned to a dusty, difficult to reach corner - it's precious. If it's precious, save it. I admire Drew for retrieving the pieces hoarders will part with and sell them as more appreciated objects.

I wonder sometimes if some of these places will just be bulldozed down with everything inside after the owners/hoarders die.

There was an American show called Hoarders and I could only watch a few episodes. Very disturbing. There seems to be varying levels of this mental illness. One lady had so much her two story house was starting to collapse. Watching it I realized there were a few similarities that run in my family. Personally, I think the key to combatting hoarding is to light a passion for wanting to be clean and orderly. Just a thought. :)

it always strikes me how precious some of these things are to people but they keep them thrown up in the corner of a shed to rot away. I always think well, they can't love it THAT much or it would be given more respect :)

Please keep in mind that many of our national treasures in museums still exist because of these hoarders. And overly orderly can be even more ugly and tedious than too much stuff.

I'm frequently impressed by the role of Drew's cameraman! Imagine, he has to get in there first!---I enjoyed Graham's sense of humor, and imagine he's a fun fellow to know!

Bobs Bits is probably my favorite location that Drew and crew have visited so far. So much cool stuff, great condition, and crazy prices. They could've spent a whole episode there.

It’s getting very difficult to find good prices. Everyone believes their items are made of gold
@willschlemmer56112 жыл бұрын
If we don't believe our items are worth a lot of items then we are only giving up a huge profit to Drew so he can line his pockets with gold, and frankly I won't do that

It's amazing how many of these castles end up in the hands of normal people passed down thru a family. It's a lot harder to keep up a castle when you're not enslaving people for profit like 99% of their ancestors would have. That said i would love to end up a caretaker of a castle myself but they are a little harder to come by here in America.

Misleading to offer 75 quid for the shop counter. He said it was maybe worth in the low hundreds if complete. Some restoration required to make it complete, and then worth thousands.

first Drew rips off the manor house owner with the set of drawers, then he gets Alex to patch together a fake antique, so he can rip off the customer. Why would anyone do busuness with him after seeing this?!
@ltverberg2 жыл бұрын
It really did look like a piece of junk. And it looked like even though the top they had fit it, they ended up cutting out one whole column of cabinets and cutting down the top to match. It started with 5 columns and ended with 4. They almost never do that much fixing and constructing. I think his estimate was on the high side and he ended up doing more rebuilding that he thought he'd have to do.
