I like Trader Joe’s for the essentials, milk, eggs, yogurt, and so on. Whole Foods is a lot better for more specific stuff like foreign or uncommon veggies, certain cuts of meat (like rack of lamb), fresh bread and other bakery items

I dont have a TJ in my area... and I avoid whole foods unless we need something specific. I usually stick to costco or walmart. It may not be best but it's what we have and can afforf

Trader Joe’s is the sister company of Aldi’s it’s basically a budget grocery store with smart branding and marketing.

I went to Trader Joe’s for the first time last year and I hated being in there. I can see Trader Joe’s working for single individuals or just 2 adults who aren’t good at cooking but for me it didn’t make sense to go there. I usually go to aldi or other local stores. I do go out of my way to get the Target good gather brand oat milk because it’s the one I liked the most of all of the ones I’ve tried.

I shop whole foods store brand and it's honestly not that expensive as everyone says. It beats Publix on price by far and I can get everything, trader Joe's is too hot or miss and their produce section is small

I shop at Aldi. They sell the same dairy that Whole Foods sells.

So I used to work for whole foods. Some of the items he bought just weren't the equivalents. Now whole foods can be hella expensive. But there basics are relatively the same price. The cheddar there is the same price. I get my pack of 18 eggs for 3.99 while at traders I get 12 for 2.50/3. And the oj he got was the fresh squeezed compared to the regular oj. I get the big 32 oz. pulp one from whole foods that the same quality for 2.99. I am a big price oriented shopper. Per oz. / quality should equate in comparisons. I love traders and wf, but I understand it is one of those things that warrants proper investigation that not everybody wants to put the time into. Like I get my condiments like ketchup, mayo, and mustard from traders but I'll get some of my meats from wf instead. Cause fish/seafood at traders be wildin.

Well, Trader Joe's brand has excessive amounts of soy in their food and it's not organic. They do have best chia seeds @4.99/12oz. Their organic pizza is really good 5-7 dollars. Whole foods has ready to eat hot food and an actual deli as well as a fresh meat dept.

Those two orange juices are not a valid comparison. The juice from Whole Foods is freshly pressed. You can do it yourself or grab one that the store pressed. The machine is usually located in the produce section of the store. Whole Foods also sells a more similar OJ to the one you bought from TJ closer to the milk section - at a much lower cost.

Today I learned, that I pay as much at Raley's in California as I could purchase at Whole Foods in "insert place"... cheese is $7 a block..bread is easily $4 for Orowheat..I appreciate that spreadsheet and the funds he used to complete this.

I have no idea why people shop at whole food. They sell literally the same brand at king Soopers (Kroger) and Walmart. Not sure how their organic fruit is any better than the organic food at king Soopers or sprout. Do people think more expensive means better quality? Not sure.

Sorry can’t beat Whole Foods. Specialty cuts of meat, fresh fish (not the type that’s placed on a styrofoam plate covered by plastic wrap) Imported and domestic cheese, organic fruit, vegetables, dairy and anything else you want. Fresh cakes and pastries. Fresh bread. Not gonna buy from a shitty store where everything goes rotten in 2 days

Of course it costed more you chose the organic options. If you got the black label non organic foods at Whole Foods it would have been half to two thirds the price you ended up with. Plus it would have been fair as you said you didn’t get alot of organic stuff at Trader Joe’s.

Trader Joe’s is the love child of Aldi and Whole Foods (and is actually owned by Aldi “nord”…whereas Aldi “süd” is the actual aldi store)
