If I'm not mistaken, he said put half account in a position, and not more than 10% move. that means risk per trade is 5%? Am I getting this right?
@mnestler315 ай бұрын
He said that, and in that case his account would lose 5% if he's wrong. But then later he showed several trades where he risked 4x his account on a single trade, and then he'd lose 40% of his balance if he actually places his stop 10% below his entry and is stopped out there.
@TraderLion5 ай бұрын
I don't think he said to put half of his account with a 10% stop. Typically competition traders stops are no larger than 3%.

Q1. What was his max string of losses ? (number of losses in a row) Q2. what was his average gain & average loss percentage ? Q3. what i could not relate to well was, he said he might go in with full position or 4x leverage, with 10% stop. Q4. 10% stop for day trading seems very large and Risk of Total Equity for 4x leveraged position with 10% stop would be very high. isn't it ? I'm an MTP & MPA member too, i could very well relate to the videos available and the QnAs where Mark and Mark answers. But could not understand his risk management tactic of having 10% stop for day trading (agreed he was using candle's low at some places).

If using 4x intraday margin, no chance I am using 10% stop haha. I will use low of candle or 1.5% max. Typically 1% stop

I'm still a little unclear on James' maximum risk. He said that his max stop is 10%, but on what % of his account. What is his max % risk on his overall equity for any single trade? Thanks for the interview.
@TraderLion4 ай бұрын
I believe he said 2% total portfolio risk. Which would mean 20% max position size if you're giving it the full 10%. But you can pull both those levers to get balancing numbers. % of Portfolio X Trade Risk = Portfolio Risk.

There should be a separate “contest” for day traders. It’s a whole different ballgame! I started out day trading small caps, it’s wild. Not sure if it’s considered “investing”.

@@TraderLion Even with proven edge, risking upwards of 10% per trade is a blowup waiting to happen, guaranteed
@bpfrenchak29 күн бұрын
He is really good, however it seems he has an urge to over lever for a rush or something. Did it with options and then is just doing the same thing again with 4x margin. If he knows his batting average and win/loss ratio and always position sizes perfectly and always adhere’s to his stop perfectly then yes it works. But if batting average changes in a different market environment, or doesn’t adhere to stop, or if blows through stop before he has a chance to react if he doesn’t use autoentered stops in the market, then he could blow up his account, again. Once you have enough money in your account, then with the power of compounding at even 100-200% per year, after 1-2 years there should be no need to use 4x margin. Unless this is just 4 the Championship only to juice returns and try to win, but argue this is not wise for your average person to follow.
