Thanks for making this video. So many people don’t understand why this plant doesn’t stay looking as nice as when they bought it. Thank you 🙂

Of course! Yes, they always go a bit scraggly and it's totally normal, just need a good haircut every so often.

I have hundreds of them now since so easy to propagate! I found a piece of a fuzzy one years ago at an outdoor flower market and rooted it in water, now I have tons. I never worry about the “callous”. I trim off all of the lower leaves, Stick them in water and roots form from where the leaves were removed. That “nanouk” one I bought at a garden shoppe....it had the spiked dark purple one on the center....I knew they were different plants, but wasn’t aware they were both trdescatia...very interesting plants.....TYFS ❤️🦋💜

Yes! They are the easiest ever... honestly some of the fastest plants to propagate and they just do better from getting chopped and re-grown. There's also so many different types. They're great!

Thank you for your knowledge. I’m new at house plants. I’m even trying to grow succulents. Most have died but I have 2 that are hanging on. Thanks to your video on succulents. Keep up the good work.

Zebrina is also known as matalí and used in the beverage agua de matalí in Tabasco, Mexico. Supposed to be good for your kidneys.

@@owoodard1110 My understanding is that name is controversial and I don't use it. It references antisemitic caricatures created by Nazi propagandists in WWII. If not for such propaganda, nobody would even consider that name. I've seen alternatives, like Wandering Spiderwort, Variegated Spiderwort, and Wandering Dude. But I think just tradescantia zebrina is fine honestly for most English speakers. I do hope more people choose to purge hateful, or even just hurtful, language from their vocabulary. It takes some thinking about and learning, but maybe we can all get there by educating each other on the origins of these terms and what they imply.

@@Stephen... that name is still appropriate--been planting & gardening since 1978 when I 1st owned my first 1, that's what it was titled then & it's still gorgeous NOW👍🏼✝️❗️

@@owoodard1110 Seems pretty arrogant to decide that on behalf of Jewish folk, but you go ahead and do your antisemitism. Just now I can say with certainty you are doing it on purpose fully educated about your actions. Btw, WWII was before 1978... It meant the same thing back then too. It is a gorgeous plant. Sad it's been associated with hateful stereotypes and people like you want to keep that going instead of just changing what you call a plant 🤷‍♀ ✡🤙✌

They're so beautiful and luckily their upkeep is easy, and easy to make more plants for next time! Fun fact, did you know that Nanouk are technically copyright protected? They are a cultivar, so technically you're not allowed to cut them and re-sell... but you can definitely make more for yourself!

Oh no! They’re usually pretty easy care. It’s possible that it was already half dead at the growers unfortunately. If you find they’re looking bad sometimes it’s best to cut it back and re-propagate.
