I never understood when people say the games were “free” from buying lots and reselling some of them to earn the money back for example, you put in time and effort to trade/resell. It would be like someone saying they got their house for free because they worked and invested money to save for it so it was free lol, makes no sense to me
@katieblackmore20043 ай бұрын
It's a term of phrase fella, i mean if you wanted a big purchase, like some of the things these guys buy, or the Pokemon cards (not my thing, but each too their own), if one particular card is £250...... If this fella can do something as EASY as walk around a few charity shops, pick up things for £20...... then resell them for £200, that is in a sense free money....... because he didn't break a sweat or work doing it, he turned £20 worth of one persons junk, in too £££ of profit for him, so it's money he wouldn't have had, ergo.... ''free''. I mean look at that CEX voucher he got, he had a bag full of items, he picked up from a day at charity shops, carboot sales etc.... he has a pint and food with pals while searching, and he paid probably around £50 for the lot, then turned that in too £400+ CEX credit! If that doesn't earn the phrase ''free money'', then i don't know what does, because going out on a Sunday too a carboot, with pals, having a great time, drinking a few pints etc, then spending £50 and turning it in too £400+ CEX credit, isn't exactly hard work. I saw one guy go too a boot sale, spend £45 on old Amiga games boxed, and Mega Drive games..... went on EBay and he made back over £620! It is ridiculous what people pay! So it is ''free'' money.
@MasterofPieces3 ай бұрын
If you buy 5 items and then sell 4 of them, making enough profit to cover the cost of the last item, that item then becomes 'free'.... no need to over complicate it. Actually your housing example also applies. At the end of it all, however you've done it, the house is yours and owes you nothing
@MrFrog_3 ай бұрын
I do understand what you are saying, whilst not technically 'free' it is just an expression.
@Ghjgfjjgv3 ай бұрын
@@katieblackmore2004 It’s not a phrase at all, people use the term “free collection” all the time and this guy even says in this video “all of its free now”, people use it in a literal sense. Also, why are you trying to say it’s a phrase then immediately putting paragraphs as to why it isn’t a phrase and explaining how it does make sense to call it free? That’s such a huge contradiction So in response to your unrealistic and made up scenario where someone could go into a few charity shops then flip items which cost £20 for £200 - Not only is that unrealistic and the odds of that happening are remote, but isn’t free money at all. Let’s say that unrealistic scenario did happen (maybe one time in 10,000 times) You would firstly have to travel down to charity shops, walk or drive from one to another to another, spend time looking around the shops, travel back home, list the item on eBay, wait until they sell, package them all up, once again travel down to the post office and then hope that the buyer doesn’t have an issue with the item or your parcel gets lost in the post, not to mention seller fees on top of that. People do reselling as a full time job, it’s not “free money” at all lol And in response to your other scenario where you supposedly seen someone turn a £45 spend into £620 - That guy was likely going to car boot sales for years, waking up early once or perhaps even multiple times per week on his day off, then got extremely lucky. Not only do you have to hope people have items worthwhile, you also have to hope they’re selling it for a good price, hope that it actually works, then hope you somehow get there before anyone else. Even if you enjoy going to car boot sales and charity shops, that doesn’t make it free. There’s tons of people who enjoy their jobs, or tons of people that have a side hustle they enjoy, just because you find it fun doesn’t make it free, you’re still putting in effort whether you enjoy it or not. Let me ask you this - if a full time reseller buys a 400k house, did they then get that house for free?
@Ghjgfjjgv3 ай бұрын
@@MasterofPieces So what about the time spent hunting for bargains to resell then the time spent listing them on eBay, then the time spent boxing them up, travelling to the post office to ship them out? Also so you said that house analogy applies? Well then I guess anyone who ever bought anything ever got it for free then

Mate, you need to get your glasses wrapped. The charity shop will do it for you if you ask at no extra cost. You run the risk of having them break on your travels.

@@WelshPokePicker If they sell fragile items they have to supply you some sort of wrap, either paper or plastic bags if they have no bubble wrap. Don't be fobbed off, they should know better.
