VW has come a long way in recent years. My sister definitely loves her Taos! I don't mind the CVT in the RAV4, better than the ones I've experienced in the Subarus.

Nicole, my Rav 4 buddy, there is a reason the blinkers are sooo loud. They do this so people won’t drive around without canceling the blinkers after making their turn. Being a professional driver, I use my turn signals at work and in my car every turn. Can’t afford a ticket! Have a good day!

I always just my blinkers and can definitely hear the RAV4s, I just think the Taos blinkers were unusually loud. 🤔

And oh yes, we all know family members that buy new Cars constantly and can't sit still then make a choice about they "feel" about it and not what is smart, luckily the Rav4 looks great and is a also an extremely smart choice. As a side note, that mechanic Scotty Kilmer put up a new video today, he went and bought a Rav4 and his other Car if you look back into his older video's is guess what? a Celica 😀😀 Scotty is quite big on KZbin now because he's an honest man, doesn't give you any spin. I feel like the Tiguan would be a better comparison with the Highlander. I compared it with the Taos because that's just what I had available to me at the time. 😊

I wouldn’t go anywhere near it. VW's are full of problems. I have personally known three people who have all had transmission problems with different brand new VW's all under 12 months. One of my friends said that the mechanic at the dealership quietly mentioned they are getting about 20 cars a week coming back. She had two transmissions exchanged and then she had enough and sold it. Stay away!

My customer traded in a 2020 RAV4 and UPGRADED into a 2022 Tiguan SEL R Line. She despised how cheap Japanese cars looked and felt. So she went German. She couldn’t be any happier.

Aisin makes the Transmission in my 22 Tiguan. No problems so far. I came from a 2005 Acura MDX with almost 200,000 before I sold it. I know what I'm getting into with the Volkswagen. We have also owned a couple Audis in the past. Get a good scan tool like VCDS or an Autel MX808. I don't think Toyota reliability is what it once was...

Not a fair comparison, the RAV4 XSE is a Higher Trim Package $$$ and a Hybrid with more mpg, the SE is not the Highest Trim package of the Taos where the XSE is a Higher Trim Package on the RAV4, The Taos has a 1.5liter Turbo engine versus Rav4s Hybrid 2.5 liter engine with electric assist, Taos has 158 horsepower and 185 ft/lbs of Torque and the Rav4 Hybrid has 219 horsepower and 163ft/lbs of torque (Torque is what gets you off the Line from a dead start), of course the Rav4 will get better MPG...its a Hybrid, What's the cost difference between a Rav4 XSE Hybrid and a Taos SE AWD? Rav4 XSE Hybrid from $35,555 and Taos SE AWD $29,500, MPG for Taos SE AWD 25 city 32 highway, MPG Rav4 XSE Hybrid 41 city and 38 highway. So yeah, I can understand if you already own a Rav4 XSE Hybrid (why would drop down to a Taos to get less MPG), However if you did not have a car or had something else and where looking between the 2 SUVS which would you buy? Its all about $$, MPG and what you FEEL Good in. Both Very Nice Cars but not a Fair Comparison between the 2.

I’ve been having some issues with my Taos as well. I’m thinking this is just something we have to deal with. I’ve taken it in multiple times for slipping and vibrations when accelerating or traveling at highway speeds. And these issues started at about 10,000 miles or so. And my alignment is constantly needing adjustments on the front passenger side. Im not sure that’s related. I love my car overall. Even named her. Dory 😂 and she is constantly forgetting to shift. I’m sitting at 18,000 miles now and nothing major has left me stranded.🤞But the transmission thing is definitely my biggest complaint. And I won’t be getting another Taos with a dual clutch. Those where designed for racing not city driving. Interested in seeing if all Taos owners are experiencing this after the cars break in period.

As these old sayings go "be happy with what you've got" and "If it ain't broke don't fix it". Getting bored and used to the Rav4 isn't reason enough to change from the Rav4, you'll feel the same with the VW later and it will be the poorer choice.

I wouldn't get a automobile with a timing belt. always stick to a timing chain. it's very costly to replace the timing belt

@@Nicole.Sisson It has a belt unfortunately, get the tiguan instead. Rates going up next month so you better move fast. go for the 2022 if you get a lower interest rate. Or a subaru crosstreck sport with 182 hp. better awd system and lower interest rate at 3.99 or lower if you get a 2022. No reason to go for a 2023. same car

um you are comparing 2 vehicles that aren't even competitors in that they are diff categories. taos is subcompact (although sizeable for that class) and rav is compact so that's something you'd wanna compare to tiguan etc

@@Nicole.Sisson The best you can do: unfortumately VW. Nissan, Ford, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Land Rover and others, do not invest in high quality standards. In Germany, or their country of origin, many people say quality standards and reliability are much better, but production is moved to any country that allows too low hourly wages for factory employees, countries that do not care about polution, even the Nissan employees in México can not afford to buy the Nissan Sentra they produce there . . Then, you can find information about all this on the Internet, and select Google Translate to your language, because some are posted on Spanish. Once, I spoke with a Mexican at a University who told me they cant see the Sun on certain days due to excessive pollution from Nissan plants and others. My Sister and Her Husband recently bought a new 2021-22 Mazda CX-30, and Toyota owns part of Mazda since years ago. People know Toyota influences Mazda and the CX-30 keeps the 6 speed automatic transmission, which could be super reliable and easier to maintain and repair in the future than CVT transmissions or 8 speed automatic transmissions. But, no matter I explained to Her, to prefer Japanese built models, only the more expensive were built in Japan, the well equipped, less expensive CX-30 s are coming also from México like the one they bought. But Mazda Facilities in México are impressive. Maybe with Toyota assistance they put more high quality standards than the others. In the past, Mazda was not too reliable but that seems to have changed. Even with that, is risky to buy a new vehicle when there is no excellent reliability record according to the owners and the word of mouth from them. Toyota in Japan, responds to qualify concerns and warranty, but even Toyota is now too big and have other division taking care of the business. Like Toyota Canada, where RAV4 HYBRID Owners have currently sued Toyota there, as informed by Scotty Kilmer on his KZbin channel days ago, because the main wiring electrical system is defective after basic warranty was over, and when it failed during warranty Toyota Canada repaired all under warranty. But, it is not covered under the Hybrid System Warranty, and many owners found the main electric wiring is damaged after bssic warranty is over, and Toyota Canada took a legal but bad decision there of saying " is not covered by the Hybrid Warranty " , this is something you never expect from Toyota Japan at all, you do not know Toyota Japan for something like that, that is the reason for the lawsuit, if the owners contact and even visit Toyota City in Japan, that is how is called, where rhe owner Akyo Toyoda is located, I am sure they solve this fast and the lawsuit ends. The Owner Toyoda is well aware of this problem and is trying to change all this.This kind of repair could cost well beyond $7,500, impossible for the RAV4 Hybrid owners there in Canada. I will find Akio Toyoda article where he explains: One of the main reasons to buy a Toyota Hybrid, from the ones who are the pioneers and sold this technology to all others manufacturers, no matter they are alloed not to say it, is precisely if a problem occurs, Toyota will not leave you with a $7,500 bill while your vehicle is under Hybrid System Warranty and even not fully paid at the Bank or Credit Union: I found Mr. Akio Toyoda comnent in Toyota City, March 3. 2020. don’t buy vw. full of problems, dealers have no clue about their car. any problem would cause cost 1k+ plus to fix. if you go with DIY, you can do lots of on toyota based on common sense. forVW, with video + repair manual, you would still feel very hard.
