the difference in margin required per point to trade each indice can cancel out the point difference, for example with £5000 margin I can trade cac at £20 per point but dax at only £10 per point so it evens itself out.

I like the Emini, sometimes it has a tight range though. But it seems like support and resistance lines hold up better, sometimes to the tick and I can place tighter stops that aren't taken out as much as with the Dow. All my opinion ha. Another very good video sir. I like the Dax a lot too but I can't do those hours in Texas.

A stock index represents the performance of a group of shares. With no physical assets to deal, most stock indices trading takes place via derivatives called futures. I'll ask Mark to see if he can a video about the basics.

@@ukspreadbetting thank you. and i would really appreciate a video explaining the basics. i'm also wondering how you make money trading index derivatives: say an index has an average daily range of about 3%...even if you manage to catch 1% of that, how is that profitable? the math doesn't add up, unless you're using significant leverage, or you're using massive positions with each trade (i.e. 50,000 or more per trade). what am i missing?
