No not spending the money on the most important parts like some arp or I'd recommend dp engine parts fasteners I would feel more comfortable using a old pair of dp fasteners that's been used over 10x than any arp and a big no no never build a motor without upgrading the harmonic balancer a high performance harmonic balancer should be one of your first mods without it you will destroy any motor no matter how Good of parts you use and how good the balancing is your basically just throwing money away and breaking good parts if anyone needs advise text me at stelly306 at hotmail dot com my advice is free and I'm doing it so we all grow as a team and everyone has a chance to beat the more experienced builders at the end of the day it's the driver that wins the race ☮️ 🎤

When the Crank snout gets torn up usually because bolts worked them out. This is why I always use red loctite on flywheel, pressure plate and crank pulley bolts. AWD factor of the harshness of the clutch shock I think the crank play was too much and your thrust probably hammered. Crank shock and that is maybe why the clutch hit the transmission as well. A poor crank pulley can also cause vibration to have bolts back out.
@derkduis6641
@derkduis6641 4 жыл бұрын
One thing that might cause this, whenever I install a flywheel, I put all the bolts in before loctiting them, so that loctite doesn't run in between the crank and the flywheel when I loctite them one by one. We've had problems because of that.
@jo3lo85
@jo3lo85 4 жыл бұрын
Seen the issue. That crank pulley needs to be swapped to a better one. The stock one can only take certain amount of vibration . Get some tires At least

Fluidamp is a solid choice for any engine being pushed like that and high rpm.
@Dr-Asim
@Dr-Asim 4 жыл бұрын
I think one part of the problem is also how you installed the flywheel. There is a specific way to do it so you don't leak lock tight in between the flywheel and the crank. Looking at the crank you can clearly see there is lock tight between the bolt holes. The proper way to do it is like this: 1.Clean crank + flywheel mating surface 2. Clean bolts and threads in the crank 3. Install the flywheel and tighten 2 bolts first without any lock tight. 4. Then apply lock tight with a q-tip inside the crank hole and threads. 5. Torque rest of the bolts with lock tight, and then undo the first 2 bolts that is used to hold the flywheel tight against the crank, put lock tight with q-tip on the these and you are done. This is the best way to keep any lock tight leaking in between the flywheel and the crank. Flywheel will have a small wobble and on top of that you 2 step and revlimit causing even more vibration.

Good decision, Trevor. A well-balanced engine will save you a lot of headaches. Touching up the Supra for the race-week, at this point, is a smart move. I'd do research to find some kind of Titanium flywheel bolts, if they need to be manufactured, those things back out, too many times.
@J4rn0
@J4rn0 4 жыл бұрын
I used to chase a very bad vibration that tended to loosen up all bolts. In the end it got fixed by bracing my turbo. Looking at the fact that your momentum on the turbo is quite large the brace might already be the fix for the future..... Just keep checking all bolts after youve driven it untill they are under control. I also noticed that using locking nuts/locktite etc is not the real solution (not referring to locktite on flywheel bolts, thats very important obviously)

Don't feel bad. I just spent a year rebuilding a new motor for my '97 M3....first time pulling a motor/trans ...got everything done and back in working on weekends. Got so excited once it was back in and turned over....fired up the car by myself - no spotter ...didn't realize I forgot to put the new oil filter in and left the filter housing kid loose. Ran the engine for a few minutes not knowing it pumped all the oil out in the garage floor. Roasted the bearings and rings. Devastating. Life goes on. Worst part is knowing I made such a stupid mistake. It's been over a month and I still have a hard time thinking about it. Rebuilding the old engine I pulled out now. More $ down the drain!

Stoked to see you take the Supra! Was following one the other day. I’ve always liked how they look, but every time I see one I think the taillights are too narrow for how wide the car is. Or something along those lines. Different coloured ones accentuate that, though.
@Mr_Velocity1577
@Mr_Velocity1577 4 жыл бұрын
It wasn’t the clutch expanding, it was the flywheel that caused the clutch to touch and bend the flywheel bolts. Also the clutch couldn’t disengage because the clutch was to close. Also you crank might have moved enough to cause all of it. Check the movement in the crank.

ARP flywheel hardware you need to red loctite and gun them on with about 150/200 ft lbs. I use a Milwaukee M18 Fuel 1/2 impact with like 4/5 ugga dugga's. OEM hardware you can torque to spec because they're softer and actually yield the fastener.

So on the old 7 bolt 4G63’s the clutch would slam against the flywheel and push it into the thrust bearings, making them notorious for crank walk. Almost looks like that’s what was happening here, and that’s what caused those flywheel bolts to get beat up like that
@nicholasramsahai9712

Hey i know that the Supra uses a small clutch set up in it because of the CD009 transmission. Ever thought about using the FISCH adapter kit with it. It basically allows you to run a bigger clutch set up whether it will be single or multi disk clutch. It would be better since the Supra is such a heavy car.
