My grandma used to sing this at night and in the kitchen when she cooked. She passed recently after a long battle with cancer. I feel like this song accurately depicts her in life and death and I feel that every time I hear this song she's telling me not to cry over her death,

I can't believe this, I'm 60 years old, and just yesterday I got this song stuck in my head but there was something about the lyrics that was messed up. I kept thinking it went "it rained all night the day I left, the weather it was dry" and as I watch the lyrics, I see that isn't the only contradiction in the song. It's hilarious. I know we had to sing this in school like 50+ years ago and I'd never given it a thought until yesterday. Now I'm wondering if somebody is trying to tell me something like.....maybe I'm going to die soon....I guess ya never know. I hope I can get it out of my head now.

English was something alien and new to him and he told me that he really enjoyed this song which opened his interest to English language.
