For some reason when I try to draw traditionally I always get that feeling that you can never get from drawing digitally, the satisfaction that you get from the pencil hitting the paper, the sound and texture that you feel when drawing, the pressure that you can't have many mistakes in paper, and most importantly the overall feeling of drawing traditionally. It just all feels so natural per se. So personally I prefer traditional drawing, no matter how inconvenient it may become in the future.

The entertainment industry have been dominated by digital art for several years now. Traditional is and will continue to dominate the fine art industry. People enjoy entertainment digitally but they want physical paintings to hang on their walls, statues in their gardens etc. There will also always be that element of awe people feel for traditional art aswell. Both digital and traditional require the same skills and discipline so at the end of the day digital is just a medium like oil paint or marble.

EXACTLY. In the entertainment field, it's just a bit cheaper to go about with it is why a lot of them are going towards the CG route and the likes. While traditional is still admired, still bought, still being displayed and even for animation books and even cartoon collectors. It's all art it's all different mediums, it's not something that's replaceable making the other obsolete. I used to hate the idea of digital art and the way it's going in the industry. My mind completely changed once I got to use tablet PCs and now the iPad pros. I wanted to save space so went digital and now love it. Still have my sketchbooks, still doodle on scrap paper, so both are not going to be a dying form.

I function a little bit better on tablets with screens. If you are having this problem with a tablet with a screen, see if your tablet brand offers different nibs and try them out. Finally, I would suggest that you look at your tablet settings. I would be drawing circles on the tablet and getting ovals, because my screen was not the same shape as my tablet. A little bit of fiddling around with my settings actually fixed that. I understand if you're burned out and you don't want to try again, the info is here.

I make pattern wallpaper by using both traditional art and digital art. I draw the object that I would like to duplicate into a pattern on paper and color it on paper, then I upload it on a computer and use an art program to clone the object into a pattern.

I bought the 2020 ipad pro 11 inch model Cause I wanted to learn how to color and knowing how limited I am in traditional art in coloring since colors were only somewhat plentiful, and because I knew that digital art would be easier and that more people will be using it in the future. So then I bought it, and right now its... holding up pretty well! I use it almost every single day for drawing, It is definitely worth the money you lose atleast for me.

I bought a drawing pad like 2 months ago and haven't touched it yet. I haven't sketched in my sketchpad for almost 3 years because of university and getting hooked on "hustle culture" after college. The pandemic actually helped me stopped everything and draw again (pretty emotional actually). I guess I haven't brought myself to go digital because I was on such a long hiatus. I think digital art is beautiful, but going outside and sketching is just something else for me. I wouldn't want traditional art to die lol. Procreate is really good though, I agree.

I've thought about buying an Ipad & apple pencil. With an audio interface, BIAS Amp, & studio grade headphones I could also have a portable music studio in my semi truck. So much creative potential with Ipads.

I've tried several times to do digital art but I just can't get used to it. I did get the hang of it for a short while but I didn't really enjoy it the same. If anything it stressed me out. I couldn't just colour something in I had to use layers and what not. It got too tech orientated. I've since develop3d a style of sketching cartoons with pencils and biros, with hatching and cross hatching to shade them. I don't use colour anymore either, at least not often. I've never been happier than I have using just a pencil and a sketchbook or card stock. If love to be able to create more digital based products but I can't get used to that slippery pen on a screen feeling. I find I spend more time pressing undo that I do just sketching.

Digital is cool, but traditional is what drawing is all about! There's just something magical about pencil on paper!

I draw both traditional and digital. Although I never make complete full page traditional drawings, because I always end up spilling water on it or something. ;-;

As a child of the 90s I didn't use a tablet until I was well into my 20s. If I am working on a project I will do the line work by hand and then use photoshop to do everything else.

Traditional art cannot die in lifetime it maybe not used in the industry asush as traditional art nowadays but to learn art from basics none can directly jump to digital, they have to get their basics in traditional art, in my animation art school the first year was traditional then we were doing our specifications

For me-- Idk, I guess sometimes digital art seems quite different from traditional art due to the fact I've been using my fingers basically my entire time in digital art, which has been-- bout a year. Unless I trace over my traditional art but it still makes a difference based on the control I have over my 'tool'

Every day a lot of comics, strip comics and graphics novels are publish around the world and a lot of them are a mix of both traditional(for the ink usually) and digital. A lot of professional don't like having their entire process on digital. So yes digitally it's faster and a wonderful tool but professional artist continue to do what they love (if not just leave this business) and if they prefer having a traditional work they are often some project where they can do it or mix digital and traditional.

I agree. It really depends on the job you might be looking for. Traditional will have a place in comics for a long time. But many other facets to the art industry jobs are having more and more of their process go digital sadly and some of them even require you to use specific software such a Photoshop or specific 3d software. But just like with those jobs there are other jobs like portrait paintings and stuff for clients and freelance work that will always have a variety of traditional or digital to them.

whilst wacom had cintiqs at the 1k mark there where company's that where making self build tablets sites that would show you how to build the tablets and source parts and processes to build them. this inevitably lead to competing company's all competing to make better and cheaper tablets to the point they are now competitors to wacom. madness but all good fun

In my country there are many traditional artists who don't want to move to the digital art because they don't know how to use it. Digital art evolved really slow in here. The first digital illustrated project was created around 2000 in here 😅
