Out chasing wolves a few years back over by where you was bow hunting whitetail by the meadow my electrical caught on fire on my snowmobile, made it through the night with a set-up much like this. Great video and nice shot on that grouse! Great content

Excellent, all of it! Some things notable to me were the disposable lighter and air mattress. Because though you could make a mountain of pine boughs and use flint/steel doesn’t mean you have to all the time. Those kind of “hacks” are metaphorical in many aspects.

Clay, love your videos and learned much on archery from and you got me back into learning. An axe is not a club. It is a precision cutting tool. one cuts up the tree from the bottom of the tree. Saves the blade and reduces effort. Also have a small axe and medium axe when carrying a saw.. Just 45 years experience and still learning. :)

And I would say this is a good starting now that I could pass down to my son when he is older.But the package was missing the release and a nock was missing from one arrow.Dealing with customer support was terrible. They suggested I buy a new release rather than correct their own quality control issue because it’s to expensive for the. to ship it out from China.Update: manufacturer got back to me and resolved the issue. I retract the above statement.

Correctly made it is "rakovalkea", just two logs on top of each other. You have to have some support for the top log so it doesn't fall down while it is burning. Rakovalkea burns about one hour for each thickness inch of logs. Logs for rakovalkea need to be preferably "kelo" logs, which means they are dead pine trees which have been standing for decades and dried. Tree itself is hundreds of years old. Because these kind of trees are not so common any more (and are also valuable construction material) it is quite rare to have an opportunity to make a rakovalkea

Although I don’t care for Starbucks as a company, their instant coffee is a step above the others. Most instant coffee has been brewed, then dehydrated, so you’re drinking the second brew 👎🏼. The Starbucks instant (which looks like what you were drinking) is just roasted beans ground very fine into a powder, and you just dump it in. That’s my go to for the outdoors.

Great video Clay, VERY well put together.. I mean whole nother level better than anyone else I have watched.. (and I follow a lot.) The cinematography and music were amazing. Well done! As far as the "Siberian fire" went, I was impressed with the simplicity, duration and effectiveness. I wonder, have you tried the automatic long lasting fire technique where they build two ramps angled downward to the fire and stack logs where they will automatically roll down, feeding the fire as the previous one burns away? I think I have seen someone try it with good results. Anyways thanks for sharing.

Good job on that grouse Clay. Simmer those sausages in shallow water till mostly cooked then take the lid and brown them w/o liquid on that. I make them real sausages real well cooked golden color.

I wonder if you put twice as many logs on if it would burn as long. Hotter for sure but perhaps it would use up the wood quicker? with the extra heat. Minimal firewood processing as well. Most of my fires are long fires where the whole tree is slowly pushed into the coal bed but it requires constant adjustment which isn't a bad thing. small trees too.
