Chinese New Year is just around the corner and one of the things I look forward to is the traditional butter cake!
This cake is baked with one whole block of SCS butter (bit.ly/LazSCSButter) and results in that nostalgic flavour that I grew up with. SCS has been a household brand since 1905 and its quality is recognized by both home and professional bakers. What makes SCS different is that the cream is double churned to give it that velvety texture.
I've been working with the bakers from The Hainan Story to reproduce this cake according to my recipe so you can now pick up a traditional butter cake at any of The Hainan Story outlets! (until 15 April 2024) It is as close as you can get to actually baking it yourself at home!
