I am a fnu student studying secondary education. Industrial arts is my discipline and i was trying to look for a video that could help all students get an appreciation of fijis traditional constructions so i decided to use this as my teaching aid.

I build mind bk home when I was about 17yrs. I prepared everything and I ask my dad to show me how to build. I still remember that day when I told my dad that I'm ready to build my own grass house. My dad gave me a big smile. The temperature inside is different. I always felt a sleep inside when is really hot outside.

Fiji traditional house very similar to Javanese house like "Rumah joglo Jawa" but roof used tiles, cut stone for foundation and Javanese craving and ornament. Fiji house bure is simple version of joglo.

The first Bure that appeared in your video is it from Vatulele island correct me if I'm wrong.

In terms of comfort and aesthetics, I can say, bure is no.1 in Fiji or anywhere in the south pacific. But the sad thing that its not so viable to maintain in today's current socio-economic environment and also changes that are swiftly overtaking our natural resources for other means and large profits.
