Looking good! However make sure that flamethrower coil has a resistor in the wiring!! I ran one of the 6v compatible ones in my old banger without a resistor and it kept frying the ignition condensers causing almost exactly the problem you're having! It would run for a minute or two and the misfire until it just died. If you're not running pertronix ignition or have a resistor in the ignition circuit, I'd suggest downgrading the coil to one that doesn't need a resistor and change the condenser and see how it goes! Run it all old-school and it will work for you!

I would be inclined to mount an electric pusher fan in front of the radiator to save some power drag and other hassles, but you have already made that trick adapter plate so never mind. Great video. Thanks. After a bit longer drive time, sparkplug checks are a great way to find out which way to go on jetting.

Morning Travis, you & I both have awesome employers, my old boss before he retired would come into the machine shop & ask, what you working on? He knew I was working on race car parts....but they were ok with it....I was busy doing something...I always get my business work done first, congrats on getting the ole flatty running better.....be safe, God Bless!!!!

Awesome to see it running and driving ..man does it sound awesome ...2 things come to mind ...but I'm not super familiar with Holly 94s and old flatheads ...but definitely grab a vacuum gauge and adjust to the highest manifold vacuum ....then maybe a quick fuel pressure gauge to make sure your gravity system is supplying enough fuel ...but all in all ...A WIN FORSURE!!!!! happy belated btw and thanks for the wicked video !!!!
@pappabob293 жыл бұрын
No "expert" for sure but I would agree with Gee Whizz about the weight of that fan on the gen bearings?? You mentioned "no fuel pump". Are you running a electric pump or just "gravity" from the tank. Model A's are NOTORIOUS for sediment from the tank clogging the fuel line. Are you sure your tank is clean of rust sediment?? There is a small cylindrical filter you can install on top of the fuel valve so the fuel going into the fuel line is not coming off the bottom of the tank. Motor sounds nice !!! 👍👍👍⚙️🛠🔩🗜
@timboyle24993 жыл бұрын
That is a flathead fan, should be alright
@RACGARAGE3 жыл бұрын
If it ruins the genny so be it lol I like the look of this 6 blade fan. I just have gravity power! And I lined the tank with that paint sealer stuff so it’s clean, motor should be all set as of now though. Need a nice day to test out the latest carburetor tweaks!
@johnpatient48153 жыл бұрын
Make sure that the tank is vented. If not the vacuum will prevent fule flow.
@RACGARAGE3 жыл бұрын
@@johnpatient4815 the fuel filler cap is stock so it should be right?
@pappabob293 жыл бұрын
@@johnpatient4815 Agreed !! The 29's had screw on gas caps and the same size/thread cap on the radiator. A common "vandal" trick of the day was to trade the location of those two caps. The radiator cap being "non-vented" would eventually stop the flow of fuel to the engine. I think the 30/31 radiators use the modern style cap so that no longer worked. Still a concern if your tank cap threads on.
