My dad made bags both custom and production from the mid seventies until the mid nineties. He made them for Dixie gun works Track of the wolf and gander mountain to name a few. His custom bags were very sought after. He considered a guy named Gary Birch to be the top contemporary bag maker of the time. Having said all of that your work looks outstanding. Those production bags actually have a custom look to them.

Just got mine after a couple years debating. Had a leather bag a number of years ago ,but wasn't happy with it. Finally decided to go for it ,and these bags are awesome! I got the Woodland bag, leather strap, with hunters star inlay. No reason my Grandchildren shouldn't be shooting out of this bag if they want it when I'm gone.

I won't buy anything but Leatherman products. Have an Eastern Woodland bag that I purchased about 12 years ago, also slings, tool pouches, tools etc. Stopped in on my way back home from Fort Chambers today and picked up one of the primitive bags as well as another tool pouch, ball bag, and a couple screwdrivers. Gary's stuff can't be beat.

Another place you can put a patch knife sheath is at the top/front side of the gusset. That way you can leave the short start loop on the strap. That's the way I have my bag setup. God bless!

Looking at your site now! Thank you. I am new to the Northern WV area, and a new flintlock shooter. I haven't gone into the woods with it yet, but range to e is a blast. Far more fun than ANY cartridge gun shooting I have ever done at the range.

People get a possibles bag wrong, probably because of badly research movies. A possibles bag is actually something you carry on your back, much like a backpack, except that it was often a cross body tube, and it held a lot of clothing and gear. It's where you carried all your worldly possessions, such as clothing, gear too large for your belt, even large amounts of food. People during that period did sometimes carry a haversack, but never called it a possibles bag. The only small pouch they carried was a shooting bag, and that's what they called it. I know it's reached the point where most people really believe a possibles bag is a small bag that hangs over the shoulder, but this simply is not historically accurate. "Possible" means "all my possessions". Not strictly true, of course, but for the most part, it was accurate. Other than a blanket roll, everything they owned, other than what was in the shooting bag, or carried on their belt, was in the possibles bag on their back. Sometimes the blanket itself was wrapped around the possibles bag. As I said, the only small bag, often identical to the one you call a possibles bag, was the shooting pouch or bag, and contained only items related to the use of the rifle. They called it a shooting pouch or a shooting bag, but never a possibles bag.
@paraplegichistoricalsports57005 жыл бұрын
No sir, you are wrong there.
@Chris-SS4 жыл бұрын
I agree, its a shooting bag, not a possible bag. Possibles are all the other items you might need otherbtgan shooting stuff.
