Question, did you ever feel different growing up? Do you have a tight bond with your adoptive parents ?
@eilisburke76215 ай бұрын
@@KateSliver Born in Guatemala and adopted to USA. I have an amazing bond with my adoptive parents. They made me feel like one of their own. My siblings (non biological) are my siblings. My mom is my mom and so is my dad. I was accepted as their own and I feel like them. I feel proud to be Guatemalan and USA. There are so many cultures and people in the USA that i didn't feel out of place.

The Mayans are very spiritual and ceremonial, their music can be ritualistic and soul full. Mostly sad since the conquest but lately has shown a happier revival full of energy and the excitement of nature and mother earth. This natural hand nade instrument reflect the harmony and melodies of their environment. Chirimiya and Tzijolaj, pottery whistles caracol shells -winds- maracas made of Jicaras and Teconate gourds filled with pebbles or seeds. Turtle shells, the Tum drums, marimba -percussion- among other diverse and exotic instruments. Thanks for the video, great sound and colorful nature scene.

@@harverc229 The Aztec's accomplishments pale in comparison to the Mayans' accomplishments. Your ancestors managed to enrage your fellow Native American brethren of other tribes to join with the Spaniards (not that many Spaniards were completely innocent, but it showed just how awful the reign of the Aztecs really came to be), because of how ruthless your civilization was, your ancestors' ceremonial sacrifices were cruel.
@kakashivazi49323 жыл бұрын
@@harverc229 no reason for the divide we’re all native. But we accomplished way more than the Aztecs. Our civilization spread all through Central America up to North America. We created the calendar, we were some of the greatest most precise mathematicians/astrologists, we built dozens and dozens of amazing cities and archaeologists say there’s definitely more to discover. We even predicted how chaotic 2020 would be. I’m sorry but our accomplishments were much greater than the Aztecs.

I’m mixed with a whole bunch of things but my dad is Guatemalan and he told me we’re the originals, full blood Mayan. Wish he was an actual father, maybe I would’ve known my culture. But for now I’ll look and search myself.
@RyverBlu4 жыл бұрын
I'm half Guatemalan(other half German, Norwegian, and Irish), and I never got to meet my father because he wasn't a good guy and got deported back to Guatemala and my mother has only told me that according to him, my family is Mayan. I grew up in the States and can't even speak Spanish, but one day I hope to find my family in Guatemala. I feel like half of me is missing.
@cheesssyyy66944 жыл бұрын
@@RyverBlu I'm also half Guatemalan ( Also Half Korean ) My mother is a full blood Mayan and My father is full Royal blood Korean which means I would technically be a princess but I also feel like im missing half of me I lived like a Korean my whole life and want to live like my mom did as a little girl . I want to meet my family in Guatemala since I can speak Spanish Mandarin Korean and English . I hope I will soon.
@naomiestrada44303 жыл бұрын
@@RyverBlu You have a very similar story to mine. My mother (white-danish) and father (mayan descent) got divorced when I was 5. I always knew I was half Mayan/Guatemalan. My father was not the best man and he was also deported to Guatemala while groqwing up. I recently found out he passed away in a fatal accident in Guatemala and I feel like part of me is gone/missing because I never got to "hear" his side of the story and be a part of that side of my family. I am on the search for answers and my roots...I know my ancestors have been guiding me to find my roots and assisting me to dive deeply into my heritage. I am wanting to learn the traditional mayan language (K'iche') instead of spanish (I was bilingual up until the age of 6 or 7 then lost it due to assimilation and my mother being white). Take care and know your ancestors are with you and know you are not alone. Many blessings to you!
