What is interesting with french-canadian folk music, the music itself is really joyful but the lyrics otherwise are sad, dark and depressing. That's the spirit of French-Canadian, we celebrate the joy to be alive even if times are hard.

when you think about it, since every Latin European culture is have a lot of similarities to one another, then by definition, Quebec is a Latin America region, but just a part of another country. it is majority French speaking unlike other areas in North America

The hispanophones who come to Québec usually adapt and catch a very good grasp of the language after about a year. It’s much easier for them to “get” Italian due to the tone, pronunciation and other similarities. French is just a little more of a struggle but you’ll catch it quickly. I’ve had some Portuguese friends (immigrants) who came from Açores Portugal and Chileans (Antofagasta & Viña del Mar) who I didn’t not know were immigrants. They absorbed the language as if it were their mother tongue. ¡No te desilusiones hablarás francés muy bien en poco tiempo!

Adrien De Repentigny was her biological father, he was from L'Île-Perrot. She was born and raised in Montreal. But a divorce brought her to the United States because her grandmother inherited cottages in Salisbury Beach, Massachusetts. My grandmother Irene L’Heureux moved there to help raise my mother!!! There are TONS of French from Quebec that settled in the Eastern Coast of the United States! Ancestry says my DNA is extremely strong with what they call the “Settlers of Montreal”! I am 53% French! My father has 3% French, the rest is Irish, German! My mother was 100%! My mother didn’t learn the English language until high school! More French is in my blood dude!!! It pisses me off that you guys say I don’t have French because I wasn’t “born” there! What the “F” is wrong with you???!!! You all sound very arrogant! My mother sang songs of old Quebec to me and spoke to me in French!!! Made traditional Quebec meals!!! So did my grandmother! They all spoke French in the house! My grandmother remarried a French disent man by the name of Leo Péloquin! My grandmother and step grandfather spoke French to each other! Leo was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island! His parents and much of his 15 siblings were born in Quebec!!! Quit being so righteously arrogant!!! You and that stupid WilliamE😡😡😡

Oh, I see. let me ask one more question please. Is that way of playing has a name? for example, in Latin culture, there is a same rhythm which is called 'caballo rhythm'. I need a terminology which represent that way of playing in Quebec for my music assignment :D If you don't know, it's fine! thanks for comment👍

The song is Les petits plaisirs de Basile. La Bottine Souriante has a terrific live version of it recorded, and I'll bet this talented gentleman does as well!

No, actually a ''rigodon'' is danced. What he plays on the fiddle is called a Reel. And he's singing a ''chanson à répondre'' or call-and-response song in english. :)

''Les p'tits plaisirs de Basile'' sung over a reel (That is a type of violin music if you don't know) named ''La chicaneuse''. The cleanest/less old interpretation I saw here on KZbin comes from the band ''La bottine souriante'' If you copy-paste '' La bottine souriante Les p'tits plaisirs de basile '' you will find it. Pick the video from the band's auto generated channel.
