The white powder we know as efun, a mineral from the ground. In the diaspora cascaria (crushed egg shell) was substituted. Olokun, female orisa and owner of the oceans, takes efun as an offering.

Efun is a Yoruba word. Olokun is an Orisa from the Bini people of Benin and the language is different.

Why they are all dressed in white/red colors, in the others videos of african ceremonies for olokun that i have seen, they are also using this 2 colors. In cuban diaspora we always represent olokun by dark blue and white, could someone explain to me please
@Bembesito9 жыл бұрын
Antonio Jimenez this is of the edo people of benin state nigeria they are another ethnic group related to yoruba but different and the colors and thing of orisa vary in africa compared to cuba in cuba things changed and olokun for bini edo people is red and white for the others might be blue but not really

@@Bembesito For your information, we Binis are in no way related to the yorubas. Not in language, not in culture.

@efosaakenbor25305 жыл бұрын
@@Tiana472 Certainly not the wrong and distorted history that you have read. You are not Bini and am sure you know little or nothing about we Binis. So I urge you to learn about the Binis from the Binis and not from people who know nothing about us.
