I've met some of these great people, also Mr. Tony Lin, they came to my tea garden in Meghalaya. We had great tea sessions and discussions with them.

We're so glad you were able to meet with Tony! He's been such a great friend and mentor to us here in Taiwan. What kinds of tea do you make?

@@EcoChaTeas yes he's an amazing tea master, their oolong tea are hands down the best in the world, they're amazing absolutely amazing, exotic and glamorous teas. Here we make mostly green tea and black tea, the ones similar to Darjeeling style of manufacture. We're a very small plantation. The green teas are pan fried, they have a fruity mellow character, much lighter than Japanese green teas, and little grassier than Chinese green teas, so somewhere in between Japanese and Chinese greens, and the black teas are usually hard withered and long fermented to give a strong flowery character with also a strong fermented liquor on the cup.

We find your videos very interesting and informative. Thank you for producing them. We hope in the next couple of years to go to Taiwan to see the tea farms and factories. Are here any specific tours for this? We hope to join your tea club very soon.

What about the rotary heat drying machines? Are those used in the process? I see them pictured here throughout the video

Yes the tumble dryer‘s are used for the seat oxidation/kill green stage to fix the leaves and prevent further oxidation. But that happens after midnight. So our cameraman went home! Ha ha ha! We were just wanting to catch the significance of this event with the elder masters conveying their experience to the younger generation. You can check out our our modern oolong tea processing video to see them in action here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eavOmaSEn6-Sg8k. Cheers!

@@EcoChaTeas thank you I really appreciate these videos. I sell an herbal tea powder called kratom which comes from Indonesia. It is a controversial but misunderstood plant. Many consider kratom a drug, some an herbal supplement, but to me it is a tea leaf. People mainly take kratom for its psychoactive effects and that has led to some really cruddy operations bc quality is judged off effects. Leaves are often dried on the grounds outdoors. I’m hoping to apply some of the tea practices and techniques from other industries to kratom. I’m very eager to have a hands on operation but I’m in USA So it is tough. Maybe some day!
