Been to Scotland 6 times as it’s my husband’s home country as well as other spots in the UK. I can say without hesitation Scotland has the best pub food. Love the Mac & Cheese. Plus haggis bites a must to try. All the best from Canada.

I had terrific haggis when I was there, and I have found in my recent trips there that it is on many more restaurant menus than in the past. Scottish food is fabulous, what with all the seafood and fish, cooked beautifully and with lovely sides. I am getting hungry just talking about it right now.

When I was young I was brought up on Scottish comfort food like 'stovies' and 'tattie drottle'. My father worked in a whisky distillery. The distilleries bonded warehouse was guarded by geese, every Christmas the distillery gave my father one of their geese for our Christmas dinner. I remember giving him a hand plucking the goose before he hung it in the hallway for a couple of weeks to drain the blood and mature the meat. Great times.

Maybe you could do a video about Scotland's native dogs ? I would love that. You could interview breeders and introduce the dogs and talk about their history. I promise you you will get a lot of views. Some of the dogs are the Scottish Deer hound, the West Highland Terrier, Skye Terrier, and a lot more. There are also few breeds of cattle and sheep. And one chicken breed and one cat breed. Https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Dog_breeds_originating_in_Scotland

I'm not used to seeing our wee honest toun of musselburgh just pop up in videos ahaha. I'm glad you like it here. If you want a nice walk around the cost, cross the river esk to the east side ( just off the side of musselburgh high street next to the war memorial and the caprice) and follow the river north. You'll see a little building on the river mouth, just walk around it and keep going. You can follow that nice coastal path around to access the lagoons, but it also goes next to musselburgh race course and the golf course. another nice walk is down the grove, also handily next to the river esk. The easiest way to access the grove is to go up that steep hill next to musselburgh grammar and turn left until you see the mud path leading down to the river. another entrance is around behind the job centre, below the car bridge that leads into stoney bank and olive bank road. It's one of my favourite routes back through town on days when I want to avoid the school students. The grove is busier than i'd really like, but it's still nice to walk through.

Loved the oat cakes with a venison liver paste like spread. The salads were fresh field greens with sliced tomato. The mushroom soup at Eilean Donan castle was to die for! Ofcourse, the fish and chips were awesome, the meat pies and desserts! Very very good food!!❤🤗👍

As an American, I've had venison and sticky toffee pudding and liked both, but I have never tried haggis. Not sure where I can find it in Texas. Update: I just looked it up online, and they say the best haggis in Texas can be found at The Celt Irish Pub in McKinney north of Dallas. A little far for me to drive since I love south of Austin, but maybe I'll get up there to try it one day.

I never understood the Scott food being bad thing. My grandmother is Scottish she is a Dunnett from Dunnett (hope I spelt that right) and makes the best food in the world especially when it comes to sweets. I unfortunately have never been to Scotland as it costs a fortune to get there from Australia but I really want to go and my husband and I have actually been talking about moving our family to Scotland as his family are Scott's as well and the way Australia is going it's looking like a better life for us over there.

Here's the thing. When we think of food from a country, we think of NATIVE food. Americans don't really have a lot of food we consider american, but we have a huge variety of food from other countries that we have americanized. Italian, chinese, mexican, and japanese are the big ones (and french for rich people), but the popularity of other types of food is rising in my generation (indian, korean, middle eastern, greek, brazillian, portugese, german, hungarian, vietnamese, thai, filipino). But we have hamburgers, french fries, steaks, roasts, pies, stews, and things that we consider kind of american food, but those of us with a tiny bit of awareness know it's european heritage. BBQ is a contentious subject on how to define it, but southerners will argue that their kind of BBQ is 'american'. It's hard to say what american food is because it's hard point at a food that started here. We're a country of immigrants with a small population of natives who survived. I'm white and completely ignorant of native american food culture (anyone who can get me in contact with native american cooking, omg please I love food). I've heard corndogs are an american invention, but no one's really sure about it. I'm not an expert, but I've heard that cajun and creole food is unique to the southern states of america (but I'm a northerner, so I'm not sure). So that was a long way of saying that people in america don't necessarily think that all the food available in Scotland is bad. We just don't know what quintessential Scottish food is particularly good. Haggis, scotch eggs, and fried food is all americans have heard (and they don't have a good reputation. though seriously, everywhere has fried food)

In America, a good deal of Scottish cuisine's dismal reputation comes from Scots. Take former late night TV talk show host, Craig Ferguson, for one example. He said one of the funniest things I've ever heard one night, and it was about the food in Scotland. When asked what Scottish food is like, he adopted a pained expression on his face and replied in that thick, heavy accent: "Oh, Scottish food tastes like disappointment and gravel." :-D But fortunately, between television networks we have, such as Food Network, Cooking Channel, and Travel Channel, usually provide unbiased opinions on new and traditional cuisine. What excites me most (I'm what we Americans refer to as a "foodie) about food in Scotland is what some of the newer, younger, Scottish chefs who have graduated from culinary school are doing in places on or very near old fishing towns and communities. Many of these new chefs are choosing to cook with locally sourced and sustainable seafood and creating new dishes by fusing traditional Scottish fare with French technique. Most of it looks amazing, and some of it has been earning Michelin stars!
