In Singapore, the closest thing to Japanese soy sauce would be "light soy sauce". Then there is a less salty, more sweet kind called "dark soy sauce" which you use with your soft boiled egg. There is also a very thick dark sauce usually used with chicken rice. Heres a tip for your soft boiled egg...add just a drop of light soy sauce together with the dark sauce. The hint of salt will take the egg to another level

Rojak is a malay word for mixture. Singapore is like this Rojak dish, is a mixture of different race, religion and culture, mix together in harmony. I am proud of my "Rojak"!
@fteoOpty645 жыл бұрын
A good mix of races means good diversity which ought to spur innovation if freedom is not restricted or curtailed. Both Sigapore and Malaysia has similar rojak mixture!. Yummy.

Rojak is an Asian fruit salad. It usually contains fried tofu, cucumber, jicama, green mangoes, young papaya and pineapple. It is then tossed in a combination of shrimp paste, chilli paste and thick soya sauce then topped with crushed peanuts.

Food in shopping malls in SG are usually a rip off at the price of having a air conditioning place but not necessarily quiet. You can get Mee Siam at $2.50-3, fish soup $3-5 at local hawker center.

Yo welcome to singapore! Pro tip: if you want local authentic singaporean food, please try food at hawker centers or coffee shops! They are cheaper than majority of food courts ( the one u went to ) and some food may be more authentic as the hawkers have been there for years!

I love the soft boiled and or poached eggs depending on what part of the US your from, I usually do about 4 eggs, then place them in a bowl, a nice slab of butter and salt and pepper, and have buttered sourdough toast with it to scoop up the yolk and egg whites, man that's just heaven in a bowl to me, have to try the soy sauce sometime, that looks kinda good :).

Welcome to Singapore😄 Bugis is my fav. area as it's access to a lot of fun place... Check our the National library 7th floor window view .. not a lot of people know but it got 1 of the best view in Singapore.. And it's a cool building too... across the street at Purvis Street, a food haven. Try out the YY Kafei Dian - Famous for their Kaya BUN(not toast, different thing) n Hainanese kopi. And talking about Hanianese, how can we forgot about chicken rice. Check out Yet Con,(fav. of Jacky Chan Manager, who is a food buff himself). I like the Chin Chin myself👍. There, u can take a bus down to haji lane, where exotic party really is at night... n don't forgot near by Golden Mile Food Centre, where u will find very cheap outdoor gear n indie wear(3rd floor) plus great food at local price... last but not least, across the street Golden mile complex for Exotic Thailand Fun for the adventurous kind... 🤪

Ya Kun is kind of the standard... they have such consistency that it’s hard to go wrong in any of their outlets. I hear even their egg making process is patented. Only in few hawker centres you get the more old school orange coloured kaya jam. Tong Ah along Keong Saik road does a mean kaya brekkie. Their French toast kaya is wicked.
@simplyme33065 жыл бұрын
Hope you try their steamed kaya bread version too. I prefer it to the toast cos I find their toast too dry. 6 eggs! OMG steady lah lol I think that's too heavy for me
