Holy shit the top-down healing - disruption - snowball chain effect is totally new to me as a concept but in retrospect explains a lot, especially with the marks/ scar tissue buildup from failed ingrown removal attempts x_x

Hi Rian! These videos have been priceless to me as a beginner!!! If you don’t mind and have the time for it i’d like some questions! I’m running my VladBlad irons Avenger 2 Pro (with adjustable needle throw )tattoo machine with VladBlad’s Powerbox 5 Pro with their own clipcord, pedal, armaturebar etc My problem is that I’m only able to pack/color/shade/line/etc in between 4-6 volts. Not 100% sure but it’s not a handspeed issue the ink just seemingly doesn’t want to stay when i tattoo any size area… I’m using radiant color inks and world famous blackout. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for the info you’ve shared with us so far, and for the coming videos!

This is sooo helpful, I'm so glad I found your channel! So would you suggest to slightly over moisturise overworked tattoo? Like x3 times a day? I'm apprenticeshiping and unfortunately I way overworked someone's skin in colour, now my mentor said to let it dry until scabs come off and then heavily moisturise whilst a Tattooed dermatologist I follow suggest moisturising. Honestly at a loss of what aftercare to recommend.

Good question. It’s complex how to tailor an aftercare routine to a specific place, time of year, or even the client. There really isn’t a one-sized-fits-all approach to this topic. Rather than trying to find one way to heal all tattoos we should be defining a few things to help avoiding pigeon holes in our care routines. 1. How much trauma did we do to the skin during the tattoo? One dot versus 13 hours non-stop is different amounts of trauma so both should have different care routines. For the dot, little care is required. Literally the person has to avoid doing stupid things, like lighting the dot of ink on fire. The longer session is different though… if the person doing the tattoo didn’t overwork the tattoo or overly stress the skin then minor care is required to heal the wound. The client would need to make sure it says dry, free from dirt or grossness, and only uses enough moisturizing stuff to ensure the skin stays flexible. If the wound is severe more has to be done to care for it. 2. How healthy is the clients skin before the procedure? If you tattoo a 99 year old ex-biker the tattoo will heal differently than a 19 year old gymnast. More care and protection is required for wounds that won’t heal and deal in a short time. There’s a lot more to it than that but hopefully it can get you started on the path to thinking this stuff out

My tattoo has redness around top part of the cross its two months old and not healed burning sensation I do salt water is that right

No. If it’s been that long you need to go to a doctor and get it looked at. There may be something more going on that can’t be dealt with by applying salt water to it

Hi rian, awesome videos. I recently got a tattoo and its almost 1 month old. Unfortuanrtly its healing raised and has like a dryness rough feel to it. I did over moisterize at one point and end up with some bubbles so i immediately stopped applying aquaphor and let it dry out for a day. It has finished peeling but just has a rough texture to it and is very dry unless i put quite a bit of lotion on it. Even then, it's still kinda rough tough skin. I saw the dermatologist, and sadly, he didn't have much thought other than use a cortizone cream and put silicone (scar away) on it and see what happens. All my other tattoos have healed great. Do you have any advice?

Over motorization makes your skin dry out. There are specific cells in the dermis that tell you body to push moisture to an area when it drys out. It does the opposite when the skin gets really wet for an extended period of time. Stick to a consistent regimen to make sure your body doesn’t turn off the water works while also listening to the doctor not you have thick scales of skin there could be an underlying issue with the pigment reacting to your body. Be sure to keep a consistent schedule with the cortisone lotion and only add in additional lotion to the area if your skin feel really dry all over. Also, dont just allot lotion to your tattooed area. Do the entire length of that body part. This way you can touch skin that’s not tattooed to see how it feels rather than touching the damaged bits. Keep the healing tattoo out of the sun. Seriously. If you have scales there are potential photo-reactive aspects of pigment sensitivities that may aggravate the area If you can go back to the dermatologist have them take a biopsy. Seeing the tissue under a microscope is the best way to determine what may be the cause of your tattoo healing the way it did. Also. Stay out of the pool/spa😎

Awesome, thank you. Yes, I have inherently dry skin anyway. So yes, it's been tough to keep it moisturized from with in. I will try the biopsy if I don't see improvements in a few weeks per the dermatologist.
