I learned fro my father, who was taught by Master Chen Fong, who was taught in China, by Master Gu, and indoor student, to the yang family, along side of Master Fu Shan Yuan. I originally learned from Master Wen Mei Yu, taught by Master Fu Zhong Wen, who my father said was always the man, and my father also gave the tape on Master Peter Tam-Hoy , who I thank greatly, as I now am able to have a definitive guide on authentic yang style tai chi long form, tai chi sabre, and tai chi sword. Thank you Sifu Peter Tam-Hoy I greatly cherish and regularly use your videos, to correct my style. Your videos are a treasure to me and hopefully anyone who looks to learn authentic yang style tai chi. I hope one day to be able to practice for you and show what I have learned from you, and much hope to learn from you, perhaps in person, one day... Thank you greatly Jay Jelaso

Excellent performance, no matter which style you come from this is one of the finest examples of Taiji spirit put into a sword form. Its beauty and precision will serve as a template for anyone learning the Taiji Jian forms.

Excellent timing & articulation,.......... intention(mind), form(body), & heart (spirit) are accurate,.. mind, body, & spirit completes the form as one, very well done!.. thank you for sharing.
@taijispirit1 I also tend to train each of the variations in emphasis that I know (which are different to the ones you know) daily, so in doing the one form, I end up with so many different applications.

I'm only familiar with the original tai chi long form. Not the short nor the sword. But this man looks like he has better timing than most other performers on youtube.

@waymanw69 May be not if it is a traditional gim. A traditional gim is only sharpened at the last three inches of the sword for cutting and stabbing purposes. The rest of the gim is not sharpened for the purpose of blocking and weight balancing.

This is a very interesting variation of the jian form. The first half is very similar to the transmission of the 54 point that I have learnt, then the last half, while having some similarities has some vastly different moves that fit into the same sort of place. I was wondering if that was a Dong variation or the standard Yang?

@taijispirit1 Yes, I watched the video, especially the last half a few more times after I posted the comment. My lineage comes down from my Sifu's grandfather (Deng Pai Chen) who learnt off Yang Cheng Fu. I'm certainly not disparaging your lineage, I think the latter half is wonderful, there are some subtleties that I wouldn't mind learning. I have some minor variations that I also learnt, either more aggressive or defensive, from both my Sifu and from a friend who learnt off T.T. Liang.

what form is this!?

I didn't see much variation (other than some minor angle differences), this is the same 54 Jian form that Chang Man Ching and TT Liang were doing. (See Chang Man Ching's youtube). We learnt ours from CMC and TTLiang, and I would say that this demonstrator did a great job. We tend to do the flow more smoothly and continuous with less stops, while he did that with a lot of clarity. I suppose that is more to do with the articulation.

I learned from TT Liang and this is similar. The other Yang Jian I learned through the Taiwan Wu Tang, which is entirely different, although the lineage is through the Nanjing academy, as taught by Yang Cheng Fu. I practice both forms to cover all the bases.

Wonderful performance, too bad the music changed, the previous combination was superb!
