So im getting into birding would you recommend a 10x or 12x? Any good cheap binocs you recommend in the $50 range?
@SamkoTradBow

10 would be better than 12 and easier to hold steady. Not sure of any in the 50 range

I had an old pair of Steiner military autofocus binos and used them for many years. Loved them until a prism shifted on one side.

I use 10X50. They are heavy, clunky, little ridiculous for deer and turkeys. However, for the clarity and extra light gathering I can’t NOT use them lol

I have a pair of expensive Nikon Aculons that I don't like using if I am venturing far in case they get damaged, I took a chance and bought a cheap pair of 8x32 roof prism from Amazon for £20! They are surprisingly great!. I can throw them in my bag and let my friends borrow them! My Aculons were about 6 times the price. I own several pairs of the cheap sets now. I would much rather lose or damage these...

I have some $75 Nikons that are pretty good for the money and lightweight. My 30 y.o. Swarovski 8x20s are the most used. I ALWAYS have them with me when I hunt. Lightweight, small, great optics. My 30 y.o. Swarovski 8x30's are awesome but they don't get used much because they are bulky and heavy compared to the. 8x20's.

I don’t find the need to spend thousands and thousands on certain equipment as you don’t need to just to kill an animal. However if you were gonna spend big money on one piece of equipment it would be 1: glass 2: boots 3: rain gear for me anyways. High quality glass is truly one of the only lifetime purchases. Boots, rain gear, cloths, even some bow will all were out or be replaced with a newer design or tech improvement. Quality binos or high end scopes will last a lifetime if treated right. One REALLY good thing is there is super good quality glass now at very reasonable prices under $500. Now 20-30yrs ago that wasn’t so much the case and high end quality almost required $1000+. I went to college for photography and used Zeiss lenses for all my cameras so I naturally went that way for both my binos and primary gun scope. My secondary gun has a vortex scope on it and it’s noticeable to me the difference but still is an incredible value for their quality!!! Great vid as usual.

@pathfinder5804 yep ove spent the last 30 years looking through swarovski binos, pro grade camera lenses etc. It's amazing how fast the quality of lower level stuff has increased. The line between levels is getting thinner. Bit no denying high end glass is always best

Great topic. For whitetail hunting do you think the 32s are better than 42 sizes?
@SamkoTradBow
@SamkoTradBow 5 ай бұрын
@@johnanon3081 42s have better light gathering statistically. But 32s in the real world work just fine all the way until after legal shooting light. So I'd rather carry the lighter 32s.

Good knockers ain’t cheap and cheap knockers ain’t good. Maybe in the east where it doesn’t matter and you can’t see 100 yards, but not in any western situation would I want these junkers.

Maybe it's a change of perspective on your part, but your videos were actually more informative in the beginning, years ago. I know you know what you're talking about, but it's more of a review channel now. I understand it's how you make your money now, but it is still disappointing.
