Thanks again Jason for another helpful video. I need to check out your knife setup. I know you have put it in other videos so I'll look that up. I really like the handy sheath system. One thing I have done in the past is take two compasses. The reason? If you get lost but really think your gut is telling you to go a certain direction and then the compass does not agree with your brain, having another compass can prove to your brain that the first compass is not lying to you. As you know, being in a black swamp on a dark night a fellow can get turned around easily. It happened to me. Sorry you got the dreaded chigger attack. I personally think deet works best for chiggers although I use the permethrin also. I hate the strong smell of deet, but it only takes one chigger attack and I find myself applying deet from my toes to my knees before getting dressed!(And spraying around my waist) lol

Great list Jason. I use that dangler with a couple things including a SAK and have added it to 1 of my compasses. Carrying a thermo flask of some sort is also so important. I picked up some Graksaw backcountry boot dryers last year and they are awesome. I do wish I could get that permethrin up here in Canada though. Nate

The boot dryer also kills the scent in your boots. The dry heat makes it impossible for the VOCs to form. I think that's one of the first thing a deer smells, especially since most hunters have their boots over their pants. Every time you take a step a puff of smelly air is forced out the top of the boot.

As a WI hunter, my go to's for helping me hunt better are as follows. An ozone generator/a clothes tent. I use this before and after every hunt to kill all scent on my ScentLok clothes and rubber boots. Scentlok proved in court their claims in court...look it up. I also use an electric hunting vest. This keeps me in the woods on cold days. A headlamp gets me in and out of the woods efficiently even over distance. OnX keeps me on the optimal path in and out of the woods even in the dark over long distances to my exact tree. A range finder helps me know distance for shooting. I do not use it when taking a shot, I use it to refresh my memory of target distance around my stand. A good pair of clippers is key for on the spot minor shooting lanes/space on stand. #BigBuckInThe Truck2024

This is totally off topic, but I thought this is a good place to get feedback from other archers. I've always had bad/lazy posture, specifically letting my lower back curve. 5 years ago or so, I hurt myself working and I've been dealing with sciatic flare ups ever since. They come and go and thankfully aren't as bad as the condition can get. I started archery in April and quickly figured out that a slouch doesn't add up to accuracy. So I very intentionally straighten my lower back and hold that position until I empty my quiver. Retrieve my arrow and take the position again. Basically working neglected muscles for the last 5-6 months. I moved a fridge today because I really needed the money. I was expecting to be in bed for a week after. I feel fine and I'm not feeling the slightest bit of discomfort, let alone pain. I'm curious how many of us have sciatic problems and if anyone else has noticed a reduction in flare ups since taking up archery. Thanks all.
