When the new Traeger Woodridge pellet grill was released, the #1 comment we got was from people wanting us to compare it to the Weber Searwood... so we're smoking 3 different meats - chuck roast, country style ribs, and whole chicken - and we're cranking up the heat to grill some burgers to see which pellet grill is best. If you're trying to decide between the Traeger vs Weber, then this video offers some great insight into both grills.

Everything looked spectacular, as usual. It saddens me how much time you and many other people with outstanding youtube channels feel you have to devote to anticipating possible negative comments, explaining, and defending yourselves to the naysayers. You obviously know what you are doing. You are an expert, a master at what you do. Just do what you love and ignore the trash talkers.

You and Amy have ALWAYS presented your likes and dislikes openly and honestly. There will always be someone who feels they do something different (better??) than someone else. Can't please them all! You've got Traeger and Weber...I've got Camp Chef. It was the first one I bought, primarily due to budget at the time, but that doesn't make my way any better than yours. I've learned a lot from watching you...I've changed the way I do some things, and others I've kept the same. We both get great food! Keep being true, man! Thanks!

I’m thinking the moisture factor is due to how the two grills convection circulate. My guess is the Weber moves more air, thus pulling more moisture out. Then again, with the treager cooking at lower temp, the longer cook time could have rendered out more fat which would cause a more moist bite. My take from this video…..I would own either one of them in a heartbeat!!

Thank You Neal and Webber. I had a glow plug go out on my Searwood XL. I filed the claim that evening; I had a glow plug in hand in 5 days. Webber warranty and customer service are excellent. I used Treager for over 20 years. They never responded that fast. Webber Searwood tip. Lower your temperature 5 degrees for more moisture. The Searwood keeps temperature better than any other grill; equal to my Lonestar which I just got. The Webber goes no where; stays on my back porch. It works too well to get rid of it. The lonestar may rule, but the Webber Searwood is excellent.

Looking to upgrade my pellet grill. Thinking about the Traeger Woodridge. Currently I have a Pit Boss Pro Vertical Smoker that jams consistently after a couple hours. Super annoying. Two questions. Does the Woodridge have any problems with jamming/errors of any sorts? Looking for a pellet grill that just works. What is the difference between the new Woodridge and the new Ironwood worth $1000 more? I only can find the Ironwood is double wall insulated. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos.
@chrism8013
@chrism8013 6 күн бұрын
ALL auger style grills will jam, up. It depends on how often it's used. The longer the interval between uses, the greater the chance of a jam. Humidity & moisture interacting with the pellets is the main factor.
@gosman949

@@chrism8013 Are there any pellet grills models/brands that are less likely to jam or/and have errors? My vertical pit boss has problems almost every time I use it.
@chrism8013
@chrism8013 5 күн бұрын
@@dudepaintball02 Unfortunately, not that I am aware of. Problem is the use the grill gets. The longer it sits with pellets in the hopper & auger, without use, the more likely the jam. Moisture & humidity are the worst enemy for pellets. If you empty the hopper after every use, and let the auger run dry of pellets, then you will most likely never have a problem. I wish the manufactures of these grills would make a simple accessible quick disconnect of the auger motor, so we can use a pair of pliers to work the auger back & forth to free any jams. Also, remember to store your pellets in a sealed bucket & climate controlled space, to prevent moisture & humidity from affecting them.

Nice review and at the end of the day it comes down to the cook. I wonder if Weber did notice that with the open design of the searwood does dry out the meat they are making the smoque. The smoque has smoke vent systems and the fire pot is relocated. Will see how that compares.

I love mine...I just found like on my other channel some are easier to use and clean...when having so many options it really comes down to convince....and if 100 brutality honest...your typical traeger, weber, and pit boss see more views because of more of my audience can afford and relate to them....just being honest. I have done a comparison with ironwood and lsg and did not see a difference in flavor....the traeger is definitely solid...and held its own in flavor....however if I only had one...the lsg has the open flame availability....thats a huge plus...because of all the options..the traeger you can grill....but nothing like flame kissed

Just bought the Woodridge Pro because I wanted the smoke boost feature and it’s bigger and has a bottom shelf. I love it. Smoking some pork loins now. I’ve also got the Weber Smokefire ex4 gen2 but have had a lot of issues with it for the last couple of years. The glow plug goes out constantly and it runs super hot. Can’t get it below 275 degrees no matter what even though the display says it’s at 180. The Weber also clogs pellets because of the design. Wouldn’t ever trust Weber again for a smoker.
