It is understandable that Sohyang's voice doesn't jump out at you with the mask on. To me, Sohyang also added some rough edges to her voice since Mona Lisa is a rock song. For her fans, there is no doubt it's her. There isn't a second person who sings like her in South Korea. The singer only takes off the mask if she loses in the competition. Sohyang sang 9 songs on this show. Mona Lisa is the 6th song she sang. I became certain after listening to her second song. Sohyang's masked singer performances are some of her best! You have to react to "Breathe" Her head voice is just out of this world. The mask takes some getting used to, but her voice makes it so much easier. Another great reaction!

she does a lot of 'showing off' on this show in a vocal way (and with genres - did you think she would do rock?) that she doesn't do in normal performances since it's somewhat of a fun celebrity competition. it doesn't show in this version, but the broadcast version shows the reaction of the panelist who are there to try to figure out who the singer is. in the show, 2 singers go 1 on 1 masked and you only take off the mask after you lose. the downside is there's a mask so you don't get to see her infamous expressions when she sings.

TraENT you can find the episodes (subbed in English too) on various streaming websites. Search "king of mask Singer episode 105" to see her first appearance on the show. She performs on episodes 105,106,108,110,112,114,116 and 118. She does a "sexy dance" after the performance on 105 that is hilarious given her usually regal and angelic demeanor. Well worth seeking out. You might need to try a few different links that Google comes up with to find a working one, but I was able to watch her entire run on the show without much difficulty. She's always wearing the same mask, so you can skip through the videos to find her parts easily.

This performance was made when SoHyang was healthy. Doubtlessly when she was healthy, it was "perfect". But she often gets sick nowadays and her performance is not that perfect even though SoHyang is still So Hyang. I hope she keeps her health for her fans waiting for her and continue her singing long long enough.

hmm, mask and the rock song (she changed her tone to match the rock genre) could trip you at first if this is SoHyang.. but few seconds and when you see her vocal amazing-ness you know it's her, also this is a Rock song, she did change her how she does runs by adding a sliding effect at the end after vibrato, yet you hear her sweet voice in the middle of the song kzbin.info/www/bejne/gV7Jf4yff9Srb7s before going back to powerful Rock Goddess again.. I recommend Sohyang's cover of Lean on Me (Kirk Franklin's song) because it's her most gospel-esque song, which shows the more spontaneous side of her musicianship, as opposed to these well-rehearsed songs she does on these big shows. You know Tre, this was a little disjointed for me. How did this reaction get by me? Because around this time in June I was binging on everything you had posted! TraENT no not really ... the other rumor is that she lost because she had a concert in Los Angeles coming two weeks later ( one I attended) ... So Hyang won 6 times at that time setting a record for a woman performer ... Recently Son SeungYeon surpassed So Hyangs record of 6 and won 8 times setting a new record for a woman and was only one win from tying Music Captains record of 9 wins for a male ... If they were afraid of other singers not appearing because a singer is too good why would they let SeungYeon set the record so high at 8 wins ??? ... The claim is utter nonsense also because the audience votes who wins not the producers of the show ... She lost with the song Day Day a hip hop/rap song out of So Hyangs usual genre of moving Ballads where she can really belt and captivate her audience ... The song was done well in a genre people least expected but didn't Move them in the usual way and the song that beat her ? ... A moving ballad ... Go figure ~
