In the last couple of years this "how dare you" attitude has been contagious and makes dangerous situations where none were before. This driver was immediately hostile and confrontational but seemed to grasp the seriousness of everything the officer explained about the laws. Immaturity lets emotions get the upper hand but both men were good people.

This went very well was in a similar situation back in the late 70s with my 1973 455 trans am no kids in car but got my ass chewed out by the cop that seen many wrecks that young men got killed in doing the samething I was doing he just didn't want to see that happen to me so I wised up. My cop had a much louder voice and sounded like my dad but it was a good encounter had to take my racing to the track after that

Being honest here, he had ZERO cause to say they were racing. It is one thing if you are going 100mph on the freeway… but in a congested area and only going 45mph or so… no way. Those cars are fast… they weren’t going all out or doing anything stupid. Also… this cop has a huge attitude problem. As an ex police officer, I can tell you that your attitude when I walked up to your window definitely plays a large part in whether you got cited or a warning. Respectful and courteous would usually get you off with a warning, depending on the severity of the offense. Combative and argumentative got you cited. Be Respectful. You have no idea what the officer coming up to you goes through every day. If the area you live has a ride along program, try it once and see how their day is spent, and the people they have to deal with.
