Traffic volumes around Porirua - before and after Transmission Gully

Since Transmission Gully opened, journeys on the wider Wellington transport network have become smoother, safer and more reliable.
While traffic volumes have been lighter than usual due to COVID-19 impacts and holiday periods, we’ve still seen positive changes on State Highway 59 (SH59), and improvements for those communities along the route.
It isn’t just a reduction in traffic volumes that’s important-it's also much easier for vehicles to get on and off the state highway, and more pleasant for those people living in communities along SH59.
