While the riders know the risks, the horses don’t. These courses are not taking the horse’s safety into consideration. Mistakes should not cause deaths, either of the horse or rider, regardless of the level.

There are half a dozen levels in Eventing, beginning with Starters, at 18”. Very few horses or riders compete past Training level (3’3”). The few who achieve the upper levels of Eventing are rare and special. These horses are not “forced” to jump; they are trained. At any stage of this training, if the horse says, “no”, then that’s the end of it. The horse might continue to event at a level in which it is comfortable, or take up a different line of work. A horse has to WANT to jump a big or scary fence; no one can “make” him do it.

Thank you for telling lt like it is. You are a smart educated equestrian & hopefully others will understand what really goes on in 3 Day & 3 phase Eventing. I love the sport - just like other high end sports there are problems. Other humans are trying to make it safer for horses & humans alike. It is a very old competition originally part of our military. Most people today have no clue & they wonder why they compete in the Olympics. If the US covered this sport better maybe that would help with the education of common folks. Thanks Again!!!!!😊🏇🏿🥕🐴🏆

I am not a fan of these horse 🐴 trials. Horses are being forced to perform at such high levels that are beyond what they can do safely. And once in a while they pay for it. And it's sad to see a rider die too. RIP Georgie.

@@WellDone57Absolutely! We enslave our animals, from birth to death. Horses have no say in what they are made to do, the tack they are made to wear, what their destiny is. Horse sports are horse abuse. Even the Royal guards abuse their horses with huge metal bits that cause terrible discomfort and make the horses angry and desperate with pain. We use these beautiful creatures for our benefit all their lives. Few are retired to live out their old age. Many end up slaughtered for pet food. Did the horse get to choose? RIP the rider but she knew the risks.

Natürlich ist das tragisch. Aber Unfälle passieren. In diesem gefährlichen Sport erst recht. Das wusste sie. Und das Pferd hat sich nicht entschieden, dabei mitzumachen. This is very heartbreaking. Another horse channel creator I watch had an accident and was in a coma a few days, and other injuries. A lot of us, her viewers, were devastated and supported her through her long recovery. Jumping seems to be an extreme horse event and all though it's beautiful, please consider the animals and the difficulty level of the jumps, the physical demand on the horse, etc. Nothing is worth the death of human or animal.
