I didn't hear it directly covered: breakdowns of traffic, mechanics and people (having to take a vehicle out of service for a passenger issue) is a big cause of delay for rail based systems (sequential movement) Pantograph trams allow 1 tram to pass another on the same route. Traffic jams and disabled trams are more easily bypassed with trams that can use 2-3 lanes for the same wires. As you mentioned hybrid pantograph/battery vehicles are even better. What do you think about the wireless charging buses with small batteries that charge from plates in the road at bus stops?

Can you make a video about Amsterdam and city planning? I was watching videos about it, and how it is supposedly one of the best designed cities in the world. I would like to see you go a bit deeper into the subject. Thank you ^^

The only downside I found with them is when they came off the wires. They would slam to a very abrupt stop and send passengers flying, myself included. Otherwise I'm a huge fan of them but prefer trams/LRT to buses for the comfort and speed even with a relatively huge one-time construction cost...

Battery electric trams now have at least a battery back up to prevent this I've been told but my hometown trolley network was finally shut in 2009... We have a lot of electric battery buses but it's still not the same...
@s2tenglish Жыл бұрын
yes that is why they need to be well maintained and battery helps in thoes moments

Trolley bus can't work in rainfall
@SeekingBeautifulDesign Жыл бұрын
1. They do. The engineering isn't that hard. 2. Using historical inductive reasoning: trams must have worked in the rain to be such a successful daily use technology. They weren't/aren't all in the desert

WTF is wong with u ? U know its a active working system we have people using it for century in ALL WEATHER

Want proof they can? Look up the video titled "Yerevan Trolleybus (2023)" by KT4Dani, look at 9:36 and you literally have a trolleybus driving through pouring rain. BRUH
