I was born in 1961, RUSH has been a part of my formative life. facing the trials of being a teenager in the 1970's of a working class family, when my father passed away when I was 15, I fell into a depression that only certain bands were able to take me away for the length of the song. RUSH was one of those bands.

@@SavoxYT I remember they reviewed some of their best work, like moving pictures ,or Permanent waves, calling it boring unmuscial drivel ,and said of PW as something that couldn't be understood, but this line here represents everything that RS thought about them... Taken from a review of Grace under pressure The problem, though, is musical. On record, the lack of melody and any but the most rudimentary harmonic development soon becomes oppressive. In addition, Alex Lifeson is not a particularly a interesting lead guitarist, and the strictures of the trio format still result in more splattery drum bashing than you'll ever care to hear. Rush delivers the goods, all right: strong social statements enveloped in a massive, pounding sound. But it's old news, and old music, too.

Peart is now my favourite drummer of all time and one of my greatest influences. Not to mention Geddy’s seriously impressive vocals and Lifeson’s beautifully crafted guitar parts. They always perfectly harmonize to create masterpieces, and lock in with each other for a crisp sound that just doesn’t happen anymore.

The tragic details of this video is that it ONLY focused on the few down moments of a pioneering band with a career spanning 45 years! It seems the details presented are true, but certainly an inadequate report on this phenomenal influence to the music industry---and humanity as a whole. RUSH certainly faced the ups and downs of a band in their infancy, and certainly other challenges as they grew and matured. The key is they developed a fanbase not on the 'ME ME ME' focus SO many other bands/musicians do... but instead for their virtuoso musicianship, powerful melodies and heartfelt lyrics. Truly a team effort between the three of them for 45 years. Kudos to Geddy, Alex and Neil for their long run producing outstanding music, and doing so with class, integrity and respect. KUDOS to them, and others, for respecting Neil's privacy during his final years. I always loved getting a new RUSH album, listening to it to get the newest tracks embedded in my brain. Then was always the love of the upcoming concert and figuring out how many times could I see them. +1 #measureofaman +1 LONG LIVE RUSH!!!🇨🇦 Thanks for the music guys. R.I.P. Professor.

I can't imagine the depths Neil must have fallen to. Reading 'Ghost Rider' was a tough read. I usually plow through his books, but this one was very difficult; I had to put it down & come back to it, it was so emotionally exhausting. Having a wife & daughter, I can't imagine losing both within a year. It would break me (more than I am already broken). I broke down and cried in the grocery store when I got the news of Neil's passing. He was like a (albeit distant) family member, having listened to their music and reading his lyrics for 40 years. RIP Neil. I found Rush in high school in the 70's and was almost instantly grabbed by the music (2112). I followed them ever since, have every album, still have ticket stubs from every tour since 1979 (my first show ever at 17), seeing them 25 times. In later years I would road trip with a good friend (hi Skip!) to see them in different cities; Richmond, Albany, Saratoga Springs, Toronto, Philadelphia, right up to the end. They are a large portion of the soundtrack to my life. Thanks for the memories!

Both Geddy and Alex gave no issue to Neil's semi-retirement after Selena and Jackie passed. Their concern was not the state of the band, but of their friend, who had his world torn apart! RIP Neil. You will forever be our professor. Go be with your Jackie & Selena.

September 20, 1982 massively enjoyed this sadly underappreciated group during their All The World's a Stage tour. One of a kind band of 3 one of a kind musical geniuses who came together & made it work!!

No other band gives me the tingles like Rush! After the 1st time I heard them I was hooked! It's amazing how their music made you feel! Not only one of the best Drummers, but also one of the Greatest song writers! RIP NEIL!!!

My all time favorite band! I’ve seen the boys in concert four times, the final time on the R40 tour, and I was never disappointed by any performance. I have so many emotionally powerful memories of RUSH and I’ll always be thankful that I was able to see them so many times. Rest easy Neil.

It's rare that a trio of this magnitude can be greater than the sum of its parts. Rush easily does this by several orders. Neil is now Upstairs, as I like to call it, The Solution, instead of here in the problem. Even now, the band continues to enlighten, educate, and make the world a much better place. As far as I'm concerned, Neil, Alex, and Geddy, will live *forever*.

I think the story of Rush can best summed up as triumph over tragedy. The group members managed to persevere.

There are many reasons this band is one of the best ever. One that isn't mentioned much is that even though they took their music seriously, they never took themselves very seriously.

Even though there wont be any new Rush music released ( unless hidden in the bands archives ) their music legend will live on , way past any rap or hip-hop artists . Geddy is clearly a baseball fan and was often seen at Toronto Blue Jay's games , ( usually a few seats away from home plate ) True Canadiana !!!

Alex and Geddy have stated in numerous interviews that there will never be any material released after the end of RUSH. If it isn't in their albums---it won't ever.

@@josephwulf1623 .... that's kind of a bummer , but I respect their rational . I'm certain both , Alex & Geddy have hours of material for a potential solo ablum or two . Although I get the sense , they might not want to go that route .

greatest drummer for one of the greatest bands of all time Geddy Lee is the only dude I've ever seen who can somehow play bass, keyboard, and sing, all at the same time . Rush’s members included , the best bassist, most underrated guitarist and best drummer

No doubt one of the most iconic bands with a massively loyal and large fan base. I remember as a kid, we lived outside of Chicago for a few years. I was astonished one day calling a local radio station requesting RUSH tune. I wanna say limelight, and the dj asked me if I had their album? I said yes then he tells me good I like them too but if I wanna hear RUSH "I've gotta spin that vinyl at home on my own time kid, they don't get much traction on the commercial market." Then he said the coolest thing, "I'll tell ya what, you're right the best rock station in Chicago (WIMZ if anyone is interested) oughta play the best rock!" this guy was all fired up as he's tellin me this ya know? Asks me my name, intros the next three songs at the request a dedicated listener "who knows good rocken roll when he hears it! Thank you so much and says my name! " I think I was in 7th or 8th grade at the time... Well, ALL of my friends tuned that station religiously too I bout flipped out cause no sooner did the dj fade in Rush limelight my phone started ringing and for a brief moment I was famous because Rush is such a kick ass band! The next day at school my crush whome I'd never been able to talk to, sat next to me at lunch! God, I hadn't thought about that in years... Lol! That WAS social media back then... And that was a pretty cool experience back then.... and Rush was, is and always will be a very cool kick ass band! Thank you guys. That experience marked the end of my "awkwardness" all youngsters have to traverse. RIP Niel....

Where to begin? The greatest thing that Rush have going for them beside their family and friends and crew are there FANS!!!! Whoever took the time to produce this is an extension of every other unfortunate soul who never took the time to listen to the music. Neil Peart was a poet and a musical genius, The other part of their rhythm section is a massively talented bass player who had a part of the band's heart beat torn from him never to be heard again. Their virtuoso guitar player is a force put on this planet for you to figure out. Please spend the rest of your days trying to figure out what these three brilliant musicians are so selflessly brought to the world and then try to encapsulate it in six minutes. Impossible! Living on a lighted stage..........

Rush has been the most underrated band even in music history. Bands with half their talent and success have been allowed into the hall of fame while rush has been shunned away. Bands with history of violent behavior and drug abuse have been tested much better than rush who have throughout their career been kind, humble, and always given their 110% to their fans. I became a fan the first time I heard them back in 1983 and have never stopped enjoying their music. Their live concerts are one of the best that I have seen. RIP Neil.

I was lucky enough to get to see Rush on thier last tour in Birmingham UK. There was an interval half way through. The second half was even better than the first half of the show.

we lost Peart to cancer. Today we lost Eddie van halen to Cancer. My sister in law is 45 and has the same brain cancer Neil had. She was diagnosed a little over a year ago. It's not looking good. I hope we have another month with her. Cancer sucks!

Rush story wasn’t tragic, it was full of bravery, holding on and going their own way.
