I remember as teenager seeing Bertil Fox making his way to train at a small converted garage called Dels Gym he was the one that inspired me to start training with weights so I joined Dels Gym and I met him.. my first time ever meeting a real life bodybuilder...It was'nt until many years later that I found out he had competed against Arnold and many of the other greats because I had no knowledge about bodybuilding at that time. He probably had the best physique of his era but it was said the industry was biased against him because he was British along with should I dare say other reasons...This bias caused him to become disillusioned with the sport and I do believe that this helped lead to his demise...A real sad day for such a great talent.

It wasn't because of colour because Don Heney was a multiple Mr Universe Champion. But I do believe his nationality had a lot to do with it.
@Pulsonar2 жыл бұрын
@@ЭндрюФлетчер-п8в Mr. Universe was not a Weider controlled entity, it was controlled by the NABBA organization. The Weiders owned and controlled Mr. Olympia, and influenced much of the controversial decisions. Bertil Fox was not the first bodybuilder to be thrown under a bus either, for whatever reason. This is why bodybuilding legends like Serge Nubret, Sergio Oliva, and other disillusioned champs went off and competed in other organisations like WABBA. They suspected the Weiders and their cronies were running a biased, bigoted and corrupt business empire back then. Weider probably didn’t want too many black faces at No.1 and taking up advertising space in their precious magazines or on the Mr. Olympia stage back then. Lee Haney was the breakthrough guy in the mid-80s, he was absolutely undeniable as the greatest physique of the time, and the juggernaut that broke the mould. The Weiders knew times were a changing and had no choice but to put their personal bigoted opinions aside for the sake of their business survival

It may seem harsh to some to say that, but he made it to the pinnacle and in one incident had his whole life shattered. Watching this I'm again reminded how narcissistic the sport is.

Fox had very good genetics, his muscles had full muscle bellys and just popped. Rhoden never did clear his name before his death, so sad. the sentence to Titus was too harsh.

Professional bodybuilding is not a “sport.” What other sport are you physically weakest when you compete? And it’s about who’s best at using illegal drugs, both for putting on muscle and for cutting weight for “competition.” Let’s not forget also the short life span of so many in this so-called sport!

In bodybuilding terms Titus was a mid ranked bodybuilder and by all accounts a bit of an asshole. Bertil Fox was a phenomenon but prone to uncontrollable rages. Sean Roden died accused but not judged from a heart attack probably caused by PED abuse. He was a 1x Mr Olympia with a massive classic physique. These three don’t have much in common.
