The present generation is so much used to taking "things for granted"..... not until a few years ago, we never even used to have proper road maps to guide us...!!!

The fault lies totally kn local authority and the contractor making the bridge why wasn't the road blocked ???

No better example to prove the phrase "Artificial Intelligence is no match to natural stupidity." This means that even the most advanced Artificial Intelligence aid like Google Maps, ADAS level X, Tesla self-driving etc etc is not a match when it comes to the natural stupidity of following the maps blindly. Use these aids to help you, to assist you but not take command over you.
