Besides finding the fields with marijuana, the real reason he was torture and killed was because he found an illegal training camp for the Contras from Nicaragua in Mexico led by the CIA. Yes The cartel and the CIA killed him, sad and tragic to say but true. The Last Narc in prime explains all this.

Absolutely right, Mark !! You're spot on ! Remember that movie, " Kill the Messenger" some years back ? Starring Jeremy Renner. It was about an American reporter who discovered the connection with government officials, Mexico and their cronies. The San Jose Mercury News was the paper he was associated with. He was their star reporter. He was shot to death, several bullet wounds in his head when found one day. The official ruling was ( fake) suicide,of course ! All because of Washington playing footsie with the Carlos Salinas presidency of Mexico. Salinas was on the Wall Street board,at one time. Camarena was a pawn in something far larger than a mere drug operation

It does suck that a lot of the stuff he did related to the drug trade is seen from a different lense today, but it's an honor that this guy fought tooth and nail for his country. Back when he was active, cannabis was a big deal alongside things like coke (not saying I agree, it's the objective truth of how drugs were viewed generally), and taking down an over 2 HECTARE weed farm owned by a CARTEL is nuts. HE deserves a ballad about him way more than the drug lords you see with entire soundtracks written about their lives. This guy deserves that. He did everything people praise cartels for; and he didn't take drug money to do it.

The USA lost the war on drugs a long long time ago. Time to rethink a different strategy. MB legalize, regulate, & tax all drugs. This way we know what the end users are getting but also the tax funds can go to rehab & prevention centers which are sorely needed. This will also curb much of the cartels funds & violence. It might not eliminate them all but will strike a huge blow against them. It worked w/ alcohol prohibition & will work narcotic sales if given the chance. Throwing addicts in prison only makes things worse for everyone including addicts given this is a medical issue not a criminal one.
@quique7764

@@robbiddlecombe8392 The idea doesn't work cus it's never been implemented in the US, ignoring an issue is not the same as what I described. And if you think cont. the war on drugs is viable option then I respectfully disagree. And yes, I have lost many of friend to OD & violence associated w/ prohibition. And tbh I myself was an addict & now I work w/ addicts & the community to find better solutions. And we know this solution works cus we have prohibition to look back on & we also see Canada & counties in Scandinavian trying a similar approach & it's been wildly successful. There are other options but it's ppl who are stuck in their ways who prevent ppl from getting the help they sorely deserve & need. I'd be more than happy to have a good faith conversation on the issue as well provide numerous studies & examples which prove the current system you're advocating for has failed & will cont. to fail society & those most in need.

@@ishrendon6435 I mean I get it’s from iron man, my confusion isn’t that it’s a real photo, it’s that the subject of the video is killed by South American drug cartels and the thumbnail doesn’t have anything to do with the video subject, other than the agents photo. It’s just weird scrolling by and you see the title and think “oh that’s interesting” then see the thumbnail and it’s kinda like “so how good/accurate is this video if the thumbnail is some random edited movie scene involving something nothing to do with the video” just a little pet peeve after years of clickbaity thumbnails.

If you legalized drugs it would basically take down most of the main source of income from criminal groups. I seriously doubt making heroin legal will make a uncontrollable amount of users because people dont do heroin because its illegal, they dont do it because they know its addictive and deadly. Its not like people are going to be like im going to do heroin because its legal. Its not like more people smoking weed than ever since it became legal.

@@AeonPhoenix Stop them? Now that is a new one. Trillions of tax payers dollars have been spent on the '''war on drugs''' over the years. millions of lives have been lost, and it is still more successful than ever. The drug war is like a dog trying to catch his tail. The USA provides a very lucrative market for drugs, the cash earned by the cartels is used to purchase high powered armor piercing weapons, that not even the Mexican army can afford. So the US is effectively arming the cartels against it's agents. Loyalty is a good thing, BUT blind loyalty is folly. Without all these weapons, the Mexican government would be able to crush the cartels, because without weapons THEY would be the cowards
